I can't tell you how important this match is. If they lay an egg in prime time, good luck getting more coverage.

Even if they play well and lose the match the best they could finish in their pool would be 2-3 and the odds of getting out of pool play would be getting pretty slim at that point.

Dominican Republic and Germany are 1-3 right now, so USA still has the opportunity to make it out of the pool, but if they do it looks like they'll play Brazil or Italy in the crossover. Who knows though, in Atlanta the Cubans tanked in the preliminary, and defeated the Americans in the crossover and went on to win the tournament. Hopefully the USA can do the same  |

Seem to be blocking better than RUS and offense is spread around. Tom with 4K, Haneef, Scott and Phipps with 3.

Even so, Haneef only hits angle, so she's not hitting into Gamova. Her approach is so dang far off the court she couldn't hit line if she wanted to.

Now 5-11. Just doesn't seem like the USA has anyone who can put the ball away consistently.
6-14. Tom and Phipps both have lousy serve receive stats.

It looks likd Russia is picking on Logan and Keba on serve receive.
