7 - 5 Russia in game 5, not looking great for the US.

It's good that NBC deems women's volleyball worthy of primetime. Great opportunity to showcase the sport to America. However, we all know what happens when it has to compete with all the other events-- more swimming, track and field, diving, etc.-- plus the usual puff pieces and sob stories. The match will be sliced and diced to pieces and no one will feel the drama of the game's ebbs and flows. I wish they would just show it one of the ancillary channels. BRAVO and MSNBC have shown other countries' complete matches including some barn-burners. With this match coming just under 2 hrs, there is no way that NBC will block off that kind of time for a broadcast of the entire match, which is just such a shame! Agree that this should have been assigned to one of the other channels. I will say it again, THIS JUST BLOWS!! Am now hoping I will be a little better off with the Canadian telecast via TSN. Hope they show the entire match or at least a big chunk of it!

Haneef now has 52 swings! She's 3 for 4 in game 5 so far though, but the US has given Russia 3 more points on errors.

i've watched their matches from the volley masters and the grand prix. USA doesn't set their MB's in front of the setter enough. the only times when robyn/lindsey set the 3s are on combination plays, usually for the outsides.

I'm trying to figure out how no one besides Stacy can make digs for the US team and Robyn only has 14 total assists through 4.5 games.
How do they determine assists?
Robyn is has 14 assists on 112 attempts?

USA loses in 5, and that should do it for their medal chances!

USA's hopes of making it to the single elimination round are in serious jeopardy. Right now they are 1-3 in the same boat as DR and Germany. While the USA has the advantage with the win-loss sets average, they will need to beat Cuba soundly in order to be tied with whomever wins the Germany-DR match. Then the win-loss set average would come into play.

another disgusting performance. Why didn't Metcalf ever play? I hope they talk about it tonight... if it's on.

Does this mean that the USA is now out of the next round?
Four teams from each Pool go through. Who would have thought this could have happened?
This is just horrible!!!

Man, that was such a bad loss! I think for the final game, Toshi should just go for broke. Replace Tayyiba with Nancy, get in Ogonna in place of Keba, and put Wiz in place of Heather! Plus, give Lindsay a game or two to show her stuffs as well. After all, what does his team got to lose?
