ding dong the bitches are dead. hehe thank you brazil from the bottom of my heart. Brazil has women on their team too, so why do you even watch or care or continue to post your stupid crap? Go find another board, or better yet, find a bridge and jump, test out your squatting abilities, see if you can bounce back up.

I've never watched women's volleyball except for these olympics. I tried to watch the lady college game once or twice to try and find a reason why women enjoy more popularity than the men's game and i couldn't find one good reason. All the women can do is look good in skimpy attire. It's a crime how much this country pushes women's volleyball over the men's. Especially considering how inferior the quality of play is. The US women were exposed throughout these games. I've told you people here way before this that the US women have no game. THEY HAVE SHOTTY DEFENSE. THEY CAN'T SERVE OR PASS! Now this Olympic sized embarrasment should put the college game in proper perspective too.

The thing that bugs me the most is that NBC's only concern is with manufacturing suspense. They are catering to the non-VB fan, who doesn't really care about the results anyhow.
There is NO reason why they couldn't have shown this match live on one of their cable stations (which would have only been watched by VB fans) AND showed the edited version on their late night show (for the couch potatoes). But they wanted to retain exclusive control over the results, doling them out to the viewers as they see fit.
VB fans get screwed. As usual.
All it does is make me hate gymnastics.

Leave Women's Volleyball to those of us who appreciate it.

Heather Bown was sure smacking the ball in games 4 and 5.
Those first 3-4 points were killers. All long ralllies with Brazil just playing a little better defense. Then the passing broke down and Ah Mow had to throw it outside against the Brazilian block.
C'est la vie. Que sera sera. Ich habe grosse hunger.

The US passing really broke down in game 5 and that made an already imposing Brazil block that much more effective. The US just couldn't recover from that early deficit. A great effort to come back from down 0-2, but they just didn't have a 3rd game win in them. That loss to the Dominican Republic was just a deflating loss. I really believe they'd have medalled if they had won that match and didn't have to face the Brazilians in this round. Oh well, 4 more years to wait. It will be interesting to see who is still left from this team and who they bring in over that span. Might a coaching change be in order as well?

“They gave it all out there,” Tom said. “I hope people saw that ... and are proud of us even though we came out with a loss. Because I know I am, and I always will be.”

The article says Logan was removed after receiving a yellow card for arguing with the referee about a call. Do yellow cards carry a more significant impact in international volleyball than they do in collegiate volleyball or USAV volleyball? I can understand a coach wanting to remove a player at least on a temporary basis for getting distracted like that emotionally, but it seems odd that she continued to be taken out during the next two games as well. Perhaps it was just because Ogonna was having good success on offense. I just found myself wondering what was going on since Logan had been the team's most successful player on offense, most successful server (at least in terms of number of aces), and one of the team's more effective blockers. Oh well... I guess we'll have 4 years to continue second guessing decisons made leading up too and during the 2004 Olympics.
