I just finished Borderlands 3. Took a while, given that I basically did all of the side quests. It was a pretty good diversion during the lockdown, though I still think Borderlands 2 is the pinnacle of the series, and it's not particularly close. There were a few quality-of-life improvements over BL2, but they were pretty minor, and there were also some bizarre quality-of-life downgrades. I think it's a pretty poorly-written game even by Borderlands standards (many of the characters and side quests were actively annoying as opposed to just forgettable), though I will say that the last act of the game was pretty strong. There are a couple of story DLCs to get through, and I'll probably max out my character (I ended at level 48, five levels short of the current cap of 53).
Next up, I will finish Red Dead Redemption 2, as I was very close to doing that before. After that, I have enough time to play maybe one more game (two if they're short) between now and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date on April 10. I'm thinking either Doom 2016, Prey or Detroit: Become Human.

one thing i dislike about borderlands 3 is the sheer amount of options for guns. my backpack is full and, when i encounter a new gun, i spend time comparing its stats to see if it is worth my time.
this gets wearisome.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It got to the point that with the exception of purple proton sniper rifles, I sold any weapon that wasn't legendary. It gets even worse after the first playthrough because weapons can then spawn as "anointed," which grant various additional bonuses. For example, I have a grenade mod that increases grenade, action skill, and weapon damage by 25% after it's thrown. It's only a blue-rarity grenade, but that bonus is so good that I kept it.

Loot-heavy games are often like that. Let me know when you start writing spreadsheets to calculate when one gun is better than another one.

Metal Gear Solid has been on my mind for a long time. But I haven't played any of the MGS games and though online forums say knowledge of (and experience in) the earlier games is not necessary, they always say, "You should play the earlier games anyway." I'm so far behind. I haven't looked up whether the earlier games are available in either the PS3 or PS4 as these are the only consoles I have. I have the PS2 but it's in a box somewhere in deep storage. I can't even find it even if I tried. Yeah, I'm like that too. One of my best friends is an enormous fan, and he convinced me to play the first one a few years back. It was an interesting game. It was well-written, and the voice acting was extremely good for a video game of its era (1998--even otherwise great games at the time often had truly embarrassing voice acting). The gameplay is super dated, unfortunately, but it's still worth playing in my opinion. You can get the first four in a collection for the PS3, which is how I got them (it appears that this particular collection is kind of hard to come by at this point, though you can still get the first three games in a different collection and the fourth separately). I only played a few minutes of the second one, stopping once I realized that you can't actually strafe or move around in the first-person aiming mode--I'm not exactly sure when the MGS series adopted the trappings of modern third-person action games). So I'm not sure if or when I'll play the others, but MGS V received almost universal acclaim when it was released, and I figure that I can't go wrong for $6. I think I may get this game. It's the Definitive Edition which includes both The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes, as well as other additional content. And, best of all, it's only $6.00, as you said. I'm not sure I'll love it because I'm into brutal violence not stealth. However, stealth is okay. But if I end up hating this game, I won't blame you. After all, I've had my eye on Metal Gear Solid for some time. Just didn't have the courage to pull the trigger.

Was reading an article about Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy has been released for the PS4...talk about blast from the past. Going to have to pick this up for nostalgia sake. Actually the article was about console gamers complaining that PC gamers were slaughtering console gamers in the online game for Jedi Academy. LOL!
Saw a picture of Yosemite National Park posted on FB last night from a friend, and it reminded me of Horizon Zero Dawn. Think I am going to have to fire it up and continue my second play through. Speaking of Horizon Zero Dawn, certainly hope the sequel will not be delayed because of coronavirus. I mean, the programmers can work from home, right? So no reason for a delay!

Also, if you're still interested in God of War (plenty of violence), this website apparently has digital codes for less than $9. I haven't personally used this website yet, but it has a good reputation, and my brother just bought a year of PS Plus from them with no issues.

I see that HZD is now scheduled as a multi-platform release on Steam in summer 2020.
Sony has (AFAIK) never before released Playstation-exclusive games to the PC gaming market. Sounds like they have finally decided to do so.

I see that HZD is now scheduled as a multi-platform release on Steam in summer 2020. If you get it, get the Complete Edition (if it's available) because it includes the Frozen Wilds DLC, which is bigger and longer than many standalone games. You also get much better outfits (with increased statistical buffs, e.g., better fire protection) and much more powerful new weapons, which you can use in the main game if you want.

Well, it's below $10 right now on that site. If you're waiting for it to drop below $10 on the PS Store directly, you may be waiting a while. But up to you.
