Shadow Tactics Some minor complaints and some features I love. I realize, of course, that this is a fantastical and mostly unrealistic game. I mean, visible viewcones? And I also realize this is a game and ever game has certain quirky and sometimes irrational rules. So, I qualify my complaints with that in mind. Complaints:1. Inability of characters to get over the smallest and shortest of obstacles, e.g. small stone. If a paved path has even the slightest "turn," my character can't jump over it and instead must follow that turn. 2. Why can't Aiko bring her own disguise to every mission? She pretty much looks the same in all the missions. 7. I don't like how the knock-out feature has a timer where, after the predetermined time, the knocked-out NPC regains consciousness. I should have the ability to tie them up and gag them. 12. I don't think they should have guns. For distance weapons, they should just have bow-and-arrows, stars, and spears. I pretty much agree with what Mike said about the guns. For this era of Japan, it's fine. I completely agree with your first complaint. There were way too many times that I got stuck on the environment, which got me spotted and set off an alarm. As for the disguise, I agree that it's silly. Desperados 3 does the same thing. Even in two missions in the same city, Kate has to get a disguise both times. The explanation for why she no longer had her first disguise was something about a poker game gone awry. And yea, tying up the enemies (or usually, the civilians) was a nice quality-of-life upgrade in Desperados 3. Tied-up enemies also have other uses, as they can be used to lure the ponchos (the D3 version of straw hats), which are ordinarily not susceptible to lures. And Isabelle can connect a tied up enemy with another enemy. Someone can then kill the tied-up enemy, which will also kill the connected enemy.

D3 adds one more twist, which is that some guards are women. And apparently none of the women are into Kate (while all of the men are), so while she can pass unnoticed among the women guards, she can't distract them like she can the men. Allows the devs to take that strategy off the table in certain key spots. Side note, I think it is particularly funny that Aiko can hold a guard forever just by pretending to be interested in what he is talking about. "My lord, may I ask a question? ... I did not know that. Please tell me more." Rather like real life. I thought Aiko's distraction dialogue was pretty boring. Kate was way more flirtatious, which I found to be more amusing. It was especially hilarious when she would lure them by saying she wanted to take them back to her room or something, and they respond with something like, "Imma coming, baby!" Aiko knows a secret that maybe Kate doesn't, which is that most guys are in love with themselves. All she has to do is let them talk without letting them know she is bored, and they do the work.

I guess so. I think Kate was more effective in that role. Plus, being able to crouch and climb ladders without needing to reapply the disguise. As I said earlier, I think Aiko is a better overall character due to her lethal melee and greater movement capabilities (e.g. swimming). But Kate is a better support character.

Dead bodies work in both games, but they will raise alarms unless you kill the lured guard before they reach a certain distance from the body. Unlike in Hitman, you don't have to be careful not to be seen by the person you knock out. Kate can kick someone right in the crotch, or Cooper can punch him right to his face, and when they wake up they have no idea what happened. In Hitman, knocked out people never wake up on their own, but they can be woken up. And if they saw you, they are "unconscious witnesses", so if someone wakes them up, the disguise you were wearing is no longer safe. But if you knock them out from behind, they can't describe their attacker, so you are still safe.

Well, fresh from the "high" of Shadow Tactics, I bit the bullet (...ha...pun...) and purchased Desperados III (Deluxe version). This includes the three DLCs. It's now downloading. I should be able to start the first mission later tonight.

Desperados III Well, fresh from the "high" of Shadow Tactics, I bit the bullet (...ha...pun...) and purchased Desperados III (Deluxe version). This includes the three DLCs. It's now downloading. I should be able to start the first mission later tonight. You made the right decision. Enjoy. Edit: the first mission is more of a tutorial and a prologue to the game's story. The second one is the first true mission.

I burned the Queen's Nest again tonight. Killed every enemy. Hid every enemy. Never stepped in a "loud" surface.
I did have Doc snipe people, and I had people other than Isabelle get melee kills, so maybe some other time for those.
I used mind control twice, so had one use left over. I had plenty of ammo, because I never used Cooper's gun and used Hector's only once (to take care of the five-guard patrol that comes out after you burn the Queen). If you were going for the "only Isabelle gets melee kills", you would probably have to make more use of the guns. And probably have to be willing to step on loud surfaces, too.
IIRC, there are six longcoats on the map. I had Cooper kill one after Doc sniped him, Isabelle kill one after Doc sniped him, Isabelle dropped a crate on one, and the other three Hector got with melee kills. Isabelle would have to get them all for the melee badge, unless hector shot them with his shotgun. I think that kills longcoats.
No sniping would be really annoying, given that I mostly used sniping to counter-snipe guards in towers.

This will stun the long coat as if they got shot. Hector's shotgun does not kill long coats. I found this out when I shot a patrol that included a long coat on the final mission. It stuns them like other guns. It is possible to shoot a long coat to death, but it requires three bullets. So something like both of Cooper's guns and Doc's in showdown mode.

I have Aiko's Choice on Epic Games Store, which I got for free at some point (I've never actually purchased a game there). Epic Game Store doesn't have native support for the DualShock4 controller like Steam does, but if you install the Epic Games launcher as a non-Steam game, it works. Or at least it's working for Aiko's Choice. I seem to recall trying this with a different game and it not working, but I may be misremembering.

I checked to see if Aiko's Choice was available for the PS4. Sadly, it's not. In one online forum, others also asked if there was a plan to produce another DLC or sequel for Shadow Tactics. There was one funny response where some dude said, and I paraphrase, "Yeah...it'll be called Yuki's Wonderlands." LOL!

Desperados III
I started the game last night. Finished the tutorial and just got to the section where Cooper meets Doc McCoy. Then it was off to bed. Incidentally, Star Trek: The Original Series has a Dr. McCoy.

I've been playing Aiko's Choice. It's set right before the Kage-sama camp mission. In the first mission, you have Aiko, Mugen and Hayato and have to rescue Yuki. The second mission is very short and is a stealth mission where Takuma has to mark five crates on a ship and then sneak into the crow's nest. The third mission involves the rest of the team rescuing Takuma and destroying the crates. It's been pretty fun so far. I missed a couple of easy badges in the first mission because I forgot to look them up first, but I don't care that much about the badges in these games. I try to get them if they're not too much trouble and I remember to look them up. I got the badge in the third mission where Takuma has to take out every enemy on one of the islands with the exception of the samurai. There's another badge for not using Yuki's whistle. I'm not sure if that one is more trouble than it's worth. We'll see.
