I played through the train mission again on Desperados 3. There is a badge for completing it without saving. Even going very carefully, it only took half an hour. At the end of the mission I set up a showdown mode to kill the last three enemies with both of Cooper's guns and Doc's as well. There was a badge for that too that I didn't even realize. I think I'll go ahead and try to get the other badges as well. There's one for not using firearms, one for saving all the civilians (I usually ignore the one group that Doc doesn't want to help, and I really didn't want to risk it on a no-save run), one for killing 10 enemies with dynamite, one for distracting three enemies at the same time with Cooper's coin, and the speed run for completing the mission in 5:30. I sometimes use those badges as ideas for how to play a level, but I have absolutely ZERO compulsion to get every one. 0 degrees Kelvin, baby. Nada. I'm not trying to get all of them, but there is a trophy for getting 80 percent of them, so I might go for that and skip the ones that are ridiculously difficult or are on missions that I don't enjoy (Baton Rouge, I'm looking in your direction). It's just something kind of fun to do if I have some extra time. And the train mission is pretty fun and simple, so I don't think it should take too long to get the rest of the badges on that one.

Desperados III
I'm completing each mission in a shorter length of time than I did in Shadow Tactics. I'm going at about the same pace though -- basically playing the game whenever I have time in the morning and late at night. I can't really say why. I'm not sure the levels in Desperados III are shorter (or less complex) than in Shadow Tactics. It's also possible I've gotten better at this type of game with all nearly identical controls and game mechanics with nearly the same types of playable characters.
Anyway, I'm now on Mission #6 (Mission #5, if you exclude the initial tutorial mission) on the bridge at Eagle Pass. I've enjoyed every single mission.
After Desperados III, I'm going to have to play more of these types of games.

I did the Shadow Tactics missions faster, probably for the same reason--we got a lot better at the mechanics of the genre.

I got the rest of the badges in one go. Doing the mission without guns wasn't too hard. The only annoying section was when you are supposed to use both guns to take out the two enemies that have Doc cornered. You have to knock one out and quickly throw your knife at the other one. It took a few attempts. With the dynamite, I just knocked out all the enemies in the last area and placed them right in front of the rock that you need to blow up with the dynamite. I used the dynamite on them first and then on the rock. The coin one was easy. I didn't actually rescue all the civilians, but the game gave me credit for that badge when I knocked out one enemy who was holding a civilian at gunpoint. I'm not sure why this happened, but I'll take it. I wasn't totally sure if I would be able to save the last civilian without guns anyway because the enemy kills them when you approach, and I don't know if the knife had enough range.

Well, Fallout 4 is available for $8.99. From youtube game reviews and what I've read online, it seems Fallout 4's single player campaign is average-to-above average but the open world stuff is flat-out amazing. In fact, some say you can just skip some of the story missions and just go explore the post-apocalyptic world.

I'm playing the first Isabelle mission where she has to rescue everyone else. It's going pretty well so far. I'm trying to get the badges to not touch water and to not use her connect ability. The latter makes me a bit sad because connect is my favorite ability in the whole game, but it has made things interesting. Fortunately, I can still use mind control, and she gets two extra uses on this mission. I used a mind controlled guard to take control of the Gatling gun near the boat Cooper is on, and he killed everyone else in the area. I never thought to do that the first two times I played this mission. I just rescued Doc more easily than expected. I thought I had to take out the long coat in the boathouse, but I realized from watching the long coat's view cone that I could actually sneak in, go behind him, grab Doc and sneak out. That means that I can ignore the rest of the enemies in this area and move on to rescuing Hector and Kate.
Edit: I got the badges. There were some tricky areas due to not being able to enter the water, and not having connect made things a bit more difficult. But as I rescued more characters, their abilities made it a lot easier. I used mind control three times early but didn't need to use it the rest of the mission. Isabelle's cat was very clutch, as she enabled me to get through some sections that would have been very difficult otherwise.

I got the remaining badges in the gold mine prison escape mission. The ones I didn't have were to not have Isabelle use connect (again) and to only pick up Doc's equipment (he's compulsory to complete the mission due to both lockpicking and sniping). The latter fulfills the former automatically, since Isabelle can't use connect (or mind control) without her equipment. Hector also can't use his bear trap or shotgun. He is borderline useless without his equipment. He can still knock enemies out, including long coats. But other than that, he mostly got left in a bush the way Cooper normally does. Kate actually gets her equipment when she's rescued. Cooper does too, but he can't actually do anything except walk. Doc really had to carry the load as the only character with lethal melee. Isabelle was still good primarily because of her ability to climb vines and her cat. She was who I used if Doc couldn't get something done.

After years and years of loving the Elder Scrolls games, I'm pretty burned out on Bethesda's open worlds.

Well, Fallout 4 is available for $8.99. From youtube game reviews and what I've read online, it seems Fallout 4's single player campaign is average-to-above average but the open world stuff is flat-out amazing. In fact, some say you can just skip some of the story missions and just go explore the post-apocalyptic world. Actually, it's available for $7.99. I glanced at the PS Store stuff too quickly.

I got the remaining badges for the New Orleans docks, Baton Rouge (it's so much less annoying on the lower difficulties) and bridge missions. In the docks mission, one of the badges is to not use any of Cooper's skills. I think this would be nearly impossible on desperado difficulty. Even on a lower difficulty, the final section where he's on his own was difficult. Since you can't use his coin, knife or gun, you have to sneak through a very tight window to avoid setting off alarms. Not using guns on the bridge mission made it more challenging, especially crossing the bridge itself, but it was doable. And in the Baton Rouge mission, one of the badges is to get Doc before waking Kate or Cooper. This was a bit tricky at the start too. I finally had to set up the bear trap at the base of the ladder to the tower that Cooper is lying on. It killed one enemy, and his patrol partner somehow didn't notice, so Hector was able to take them out.

Baton Rouge mission -- Finished it. I'm not a fan of missions where I've lost all my weapons/gear. But I really enjoyed this mission even though it was a real b---- to get through. The mud footsteps made things interesting. At the very least, I got better at stealth as a result of this mission.
Mississippi River -- I'm in the middle of this mission. First one with Isabelle. Her powers are kinda OP in this game. I'm wondering if the missions will be a lot harder with more enemies and complex geographical layouts as a result of Isabelle's presence.

Isabelle is best character in the game by a good margin in my opinion. Connect and mind control are both incredibly powerful. She can also climb vines and ropes and swim, and she's the fastest character in the game. Her cat, Stella, is a very good distraction, and she even has unlimited healing if she needs it. She also has an exploit that is so game breaking that I have never used it except for testing because it would completely trivialize the game. I guess she's "balanced" by not having a gun and having the slowest melee in the game. But neither of those things have ever seemed to matter.
