Pretty typical. I always end up with an inventory full of potions and elixirs and spell scrolls and throawable items that I either just plain forget to use or that I am "saving until I really need them" all the way until the game is over.

Horizon Forbidden West
Oh yeah...there's also this new thing called "Weapon Technique." It relies on your stamina bar. It's actually not bad but still, another complicated thing added to the combat mechanics.
There's just so many newfangled things in this game, it's hard to keep up. I often forget them once I'm in the heat of battle. I basically rely on one or two tried-and-true weapons, one all-purpose outfit, and rely on spamming the dodge button to get through a fight. Oh, also crafting ammo on the fly. LOL! I'm too busy running around to even think about using traps, valor surges, foods/potions, and weapon techniques.

Rage 2
Now that I've got some distance since finishing this game, I have a better perspective. Lots of people love this game (including me) but...damn...after a couple of weeks, I've forgotten all about it. The story is weak. Despite the complex skill tree and weapon upgrade system, I now find that they're shallow and not too memorable. I don't even want to do another playthrough. But I remember loving the game while I was playing it in my first playthrough. After that, I have this memory of the game being kinda shallow and it's best to move on.
But still, it was fun the first time through. It reminds me of many many films I've seen. Take Pearl Harbor (2001) with Ben Afflect. I enjoyed it on my initial viewing but there's no way I'll watch it again. Maybe the battle scenes with all the visual effects. Take another film from the same year 2001 like Ghost World. Loved it. I've already watched it about 5 times.

Great Halloween sale going on at the PS Store. (The Halloween Sale is happening at the same time as the Fall Sale but obviously for a more limited time) The following are in my radar:
Fallout 4 (GOTY edition) -- $9.99 Hades -- $9.99 Alien: Isolation -- $7.49 Deathloop -- $11.99 Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night -- $11.99 Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus -- $5.99 Mark of the Ninja: Remastered -- $4.99
Hades is interesting. I played my friend's copy for a couple hours. I didn't hate it but I thought I might not be good at this game because it does ramp up in difficulty real fast and it's relatively fast-paced. I thought I might get too dizzy (visually) and stressed out from the frantic combat. But I keep thinking about this game because my memory of my playthrough (short one at that) was that it was really fun.
It reminded me a little bit of my history with Borderlands. I bought the first Borderlands game from GameStop several years ago. I played through level 5 and I thought, "This is a strange game. Why is everyone so crazed and running after me to kill me for no apparent reason?!?! This is f---ed up." So, I returned the game to GameStop for my money back. But as time went on, I kept thinking about it a lot because, strangely enough, the game was simultaneously insanely fun and stupid. I was at level 5 and I thought, Heck, higher levels should be interesting. So, I went back and bought an even more expensive edition -- Borderlands (GOTY edition). Awesome experience. Never looked back.

I was really excited for Deathloop when it was announced. Seemed like a can't miss game. But there was a glut of other timeloop games that came out, and when I saw the gameplay of Deathloop it just started seeming like a game I actually didn't want.

The New Mario Party game dropped. And it's the highest-rated game yet to date and from what I've seen and heard it's very good. I'm going to get a copy tonight or over the weekend and there is a 3-month online membership with the purchase of the game, so it makes the purchase even more worth it.

Get Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It's one of the best Metroidvanias ever made. added this to my gamefly queue Nice. I hope you enjoy it. If you've ever played Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, it's very similar except with 20+ years of advances in game development.

I've played over 1300 hours of BG3, and I just learned a new trick.
In Act 3 (when you are actually in the city) there are these big robocop guys walking around called the Steel Watch. They can be handled by a competent party, but they are pretty tanky and have a nasty attack. They also blow up for a lot of AOE damage if you get them to low health.
However ... one of the possible abilities you can get is a mind-flayer ability called "absorb intellect". It acts for 5 turns and takes away 1 point of intelligence per turn from your enemy while also healing you. There is a rule in BG3 (also in D&D although it has variations in the different editions) that if any of your skill attributes is reduced to 0, you instantly die. However (and I don't know if this is a bug or intentional), when absorb intellect takes a creature down to 2 INT, they die.
The Steel Watchers have an INT of 6. So you hit them with absorb intellect, and four turns later they simply die. Just like that. (And they don't explode, which is handy.)
