We need a PAC 12/Big 10 pre-conference challenge where Minnesota and Wisconsin can both slay their "we've never beaten Stanford" demons. I don't think this season is quite the time though. I'm not sure the Badgers have ever beaten Washington either. All those two teams need is Michigan to beat Stanford in a regional semifinal, then take out Michigan in the regional final. They don't need to beat Stanford head to head. 😉

I don't expect Nebraska to finish first... lost 4 starters, who is going to replace? One their Nebraska, that means whoever is coming is good. They have an AA setter. The probable player of the year in the BIG next season in Foecke. She is going to be swinging from everywhere next year. I have heard that Wong's replacement is almost as good as her. MB redshirt freshman Strivins is supposed to be LEGIT right now. They have young solid pin hitters, and a good class coming in. I think by December they will be the most balanced team in the BIG, with a setter who will make great decisions. I actually think even more of Michigan State, but gosh, how do you like them? MSU has potential AA seniors with LS Bailey(6 rotation), S Minarick, MB Alyssa Garvelink(who might be the best middle next season) OH Holy Tolliver(Left handed hitter, great server) 6-6 RS Kranda(another great server). If they can fix their out of system offence next season, or passing, who is better? If I was Cathy George I would be searching everywhere for a stud transfer lib. I wouldn't be all that surprised if MSU beats Nebraska next year, to be honest. MSU has been really tough to beat at home, and next year they return a lot of pieces. They also add some good ones too, which includes Cox, who was libero for the JNT last summer.

Before we crown PSU next season, have they fixed their left side passing and defence? Frantti was hard to watch for most of the season. That's a big hole, and every Coach in the BIG will be all over it. Same for their right side attack and blocking, hard to watch. I have not seen their incoming RS transfer, but she needs to be better than just good, for PSU to win the BIG. Not sure about Cather, but does anyone think Nia Reed will be ready to go next year? I thought she looked better than Thelen in the match against Nebraska. Could be the missing piece they're looking for, but then again, I think we said that last year too.

They will pound teams if they stay in system.

1. Penn state 2. Wisconsin 3. Nebraska 4. Minnesota 5. Michigan 6. Ohio state 7. Michigan state 8. Purdue 9. Iowa 10. Maryland 11. Illinois 12. Indiana 13. Northwestern 14. Rutgers
The B1G will be tighter than ever this year. Nebraska & Minnesota will be good but you can only expect some hiccups through the tough conference schedule. Teams that I have listed 1-8 have a legitimate chance to be in the top 4.

I don't follow BIG vb too too closely, but for those who do... how long do you think Rutgers will stay at the bottom of the pack? 5 years? 10 years? Will there ever be a turnaround?

1. PSU 2. Nebraska 3. Michigan St. 4. Wisconsin 5. Michigan 6. Minnesota 7. Illinois 8. Purdue 9. Ohio State 10. Maryland 11. Iowa 12. Northwestern 13. Indiana 14. Rutgers
This is without close examination of the schedules. I'm probably overestimating the Michigan schools' ability to stay consistent over 10 weeks, but they are going to be talented for sure next year.

Three returning HM AA, Beth Prince finally healthy ( ESPN Frosh POY) our starting OH back for a soph campaign and class full of trees that will battle for playing time. A NEW coach who is going to make a big difference. We are going to surprise people this year.

There's no doubt they could have a great season but at the same time they have a lot to prove. Their passing needs to improve tremendously for that to happen though.

1. Penn state (they will be hard to stop, but depends on which Franti shows up) 2. Nebraska (if they grab a grand OH transfer, if not push them to 5) 3. Minnesota (best recruiting class, imo, they will reload with confidence) 4. Wisconsin (higher if Haggerty is cleared to play) 5. Michigan 6. Ohio state 7. Michigan state 8. Purdue 9. Iowa 10. Maryland 11. Illinois 12. Indiana 13. Northwestern 14. Rutgers

An ephatic YES! My second favorite VB team but they just lost Steve Spurrier and they have convinced themselves they hired Vince Lombardi! But, Hey, Spring's eternal !!! Hopefully it works out!

Brandi is training with collegiate NT and a few new DS that should help us out

I have no opinion on where Illinois is ranked in this list, but did Illinois fans really think that low of their former coach who has moved on to one of the top programs in the country? Hambly failed upwards. Too many matches when the team was in the tank his favorite saying was "figure it out". Boy that's great coaching! Volleyball is a game of momentum and he preached even keel. Our teams have lacked a serious killer instinct. Hopefully coach Tamar will bring some new energy
