With the loss of Cole and Clark and no obvious pieces to fill those holes, I'm anticipating Michigan to take a bit of a step back this year. The conference still has 4 solid contenders, 9 teams scrambling in the middle, and Rutgers.

I've only seen OSU, NE, and WI schedules. That doesn't give enough to extrapolate the rest, yet. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

I saw a tweet this morning from Coach Shondell concerning the difficulty in scheduling due to RPI effects on NCAA Draw.
I would imagine exact times are also being ironed out when concerning home football games/TV etc.

I'd love to see times (that were correct), so don't get me wrong, but...
I would be happy if they would just tell me "week X is at LOCATION against TEAM1 and TEAM2" for each week of the season (filling in the fields, of course).
Heck... I'd be grudgingly okay with just knowing whether we are at home or away, for each week.

I believe you are correct about Rutgers, they will look like one big juicy steak on a schedule filled with a gauntlet of buzzsaws.

I'm still not speaking to Wisconsin. They had ONE job. Speaking of that... I just want to say that the Badgers are going to WIN THE BIG TEN this year. You're gonna be AMAZED how great they are. They're going to be the best B1G volleyball team EV-ER. And we're going to have the most fans, the best facilities and smartest players this conference has ever seen. I guarantee you, bigly.

No. no. no. The attendance is going to be YUUUUGGGE. Believe me. You'll never get bored with winning. You'll never get bored! The other teams are weak like a baby. If Wisconsin doesn't win, something bad is happening. They will have tremendous success and be terrific.
Otherwise, the conference will be out of control...
;-)
(I think the one job was actually beating Stanford...)

Yeah...well, the Badgers came the closest...but something about 18 blocks and a libero who decided to cut her Freshman teeth on the Field House atmosphere/tournament crowd finally put that one out of reach. But I like that White House tactic above: If the Badgers don't win, something is wrong with the refs/opposing coach/other team/color of the locker room/America itself, etc.!

But scheduling in the B1G, now, I have to tell you, it's an unbelievably complex task. Nobody knew scheduling could be so complicated. Now in regards to last season, I mean, had Stanford been a seed higher, you wouldn’t have had that Regional loss. People don’t realize, you know, that 6th seed, if you think about it, why? People don’t ask that question, but why was Stanford only a 6th seed? Why could that one not have been worked out?

Penn State seems to have the the most talented and experienced players. Hard for me to pick against them if they stay healthy.

I've heard both of them were really upset about it all.

I don't follow BIG vb too too closely, but for those who do... how long do you think Rutgers will stay at the bottom of the pack? 5 years? 10 years? Will there ever be a turnaround? Forever. And ever.

So there are a few posts here that mention Rettke as a RS. Didn't she play middle this spring with Duello/Whalen on the right? Where is Loberg gonna go?
Penn State is going to be good, not perfect, but good. I think they'll get picked off 2-3 times and maybe one of the next 5 catches all the breaks and wins the conference but Penn State has to be the smart money.
Rutgers' plan is apparently to wait until the Big 10 money is in to remove the coach and make any effort at volleyball. That said, I think they accidentally hired a pretty good assistant from Florida State.
Maryland is 1 year away from being a top 5 team in the conference.

Yeah, she played middle this spring - but the Badgers had Tionna Williams sitting out and Haleigh Nelson helped in 3 of the 4 spring matches. They just didn't have the bodies to go around in that position, so who knows if she would have been there or RS with a full compliment of players. I think you'll see Loberg and Duello battle for the RS spot. If Hart comes in and is a baller in the middle, then perhaps the strongest lineup is Williams and Hart in the middle, Rettke on the RS running lots of double quicks and as a huge block.
