Nicole Davis stays in Nafta Pila

Nicole Davis is the second libero in the American national team – she is a member of the wide lineup of Toshi Yoshida’s team (the first libero is definitely Stacy Sykora). She came here with the opinion of a very hard-working player that was given by coach Yoshida. And this opinion has been confirmed so far.
Davis – the player of the Stockton University so far – has been training with Nafta for a few weeks. – She didn’t agree on picking her up for the trainings. She gets there herself. And she does it on foot – running – as a part of the training – says Radoslaw Ciemiega, the vice-chairman of the club. – She appears one hour earlier on the trainings. She puts the headphones on and runs.
What’s interesting, the American makes quick progress in Polish language. She decided that if she is going to play here she should know the language. – She had mastered the basic expressions before she came here. Now she continues to learn – says Ciemiega.
This is probably not the end of the American reinforcements in Nafta. Probably a friend of Davis - Katie Olsovsky also from California – will come to the team. Her surname sounds familiar but she doesn’t have Polish, but Slovakian roots. She is an attacker, but not the one that Nafta is seeking for, which means good in reception. What’s more, she also used to play as a middle-blocker as she is 190 cms tall. There is a chance that Olsovsky will become the thirteenth player in the team from Pila.
What’s even more interesting, another club from Wielkopolska - Winiary Kalisz - has also been interested in the American. Now Winiary can get a Hungarian player Katalin Schiegle who has been on tests in Nafta recently. – She is not a bad player, but we decided that she costs too much – says Ciemiega.
Nicole Davis is the first American volleyball player that will appear in the Polish league. Yesterday Nafta already with Davis in the lineup has won a friendly match with Stal Bielsko-Biala 3:2 (25:18, 25:21, 18:25, 19:25, 25:18) that took place in Goleniow. – Nicole played quite well in the defence, but it’s not quite as we would like it to be in the reception – says Leszek Piasecki, the coach of Nafta. – She performed in the reception better than Kasia Styskal but she is still far away from Irina Bezenar. There is still some time till the beginning of the league matches so we are going to work on it.
The lineup in the match against Stal Bielsko-Biala: Skorupa, Bezenar, Bulawczyk, Strzadala, Orlowska, Staniszewska and Davis (libero), Styskal, Chojnacka
