Congrats to Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes of USC for reaching their 100th straight win together!
Shortly after that they won 2-1 in a thriller against Arizona State

...If you don't count forfeits ...
I will continue to bring up their forfeit in the pairs event with LMU every time I see these.
87 in a row is still pretty good.

Troll are you sure about your hypothesis? Or are you in that group that calls false alarms to try and bring down a dynasty in the back ofice when you cannot do it on the court?
To be sure Anna, Ali, Dane and the athletic department are not going to lay ruin to all the hard work by these young athletes to dominate the landscape with a combine 124-3 record so far?
If you want to get punitive by trying to utilize a rule of forfeit, you could also find that their opponent, also a USC team, would have already forfeited to C&H due to an injury thus keeping the streak intact. The team then chose to offer the fans an exhibition match which allowed 3 different players to match up against great play in front of an appreciative home crowd.
Touché

I know them both, and your observations about them are correct. However, I've told them both things they did not want to hear before, and will do so again when I see them. Hopefully I will survive the encounter.

Someone I trust was there, and Claes could not continue, due to tight hamstrings, dehydration, exhaustion. The other USC team actually played in the final, so that shoots your theory. They were not the pair that forfeited due to injury. 101-1 is still awesome, not sure why they feel they have to spin it this way. IMHO it sets a poor example for players and other coaches.

Here is a partial cross-post for your info: Here is the article on pairs event with LMU and I know someone that was there: "Following the dual, the two teams engaged in a pairs' tournament where Claes and Hughes picked up two more wins: one over Belton and Kremer, 21-15, 21-10; the other over Cannon and Martin, 21-11, 21-18. The two victories pushed their streak further to 87 straight wins. The Trojans ended up putting two teams into the finals. Kernochan and Wheeler used three sets in the semifinals to knock off the top LMU pair of Slattery and Sponcil, 21-15, 16-21, 15-10. Kernochan and Wheeler used three sets in the semifinals to knock off the top LMU pair of Slattery and Sponcil, 21-15, 16-21, 15-10. In the final, the Trojans opted to play an exhibition match, which Cannon and Hughes won, 21-14, 21-18, over Kernochan and Wheeler." The NCAA has no "option to play an exhibition" in a final of a tournament, even if it is two pairs from the same school. There are also no substitutes allowed within an event. They can put whatever spin they want on it, but that is what happened. Read more: volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/68504/usc-undefeated?page=3#ixzz4dgGzfUE8

I was thinking a little slow last night. Or maybe it was the third glass of wine.

As opposed to his handle, trollhunter is becoming quite a troll on the win-streak topic.
In other news, nobody is going to talk about how well Arellano/Follette played last night?

We'll, no argument about who lost today. Claes/Hughes go down to St Mary's.

We'll, no argument about who lost today. Claes/Hughes go down to St Mary's. Wow. Looks like 17-15 in the 3rd set. Was it really windy in Manhattan Beach? I was up in Ocean Park for the other tourney and the wind was really whipping. Lots of survival play and unlucky bounces all around.
