I usually only see the most elite liberos wear them, but can anyone personally testify to seeing an improvement from wearing them? I could think that eye sequencing from the servers hand to platform might be improved but that is all I could come up with...

Are you talking about the sweat band type things that cover your platform or the full arm sleeves that have elbow padding? I think they are both beneficial in creating a visual and tactile awareness of your platform, and the elbow padding is great for the really bony athletes that go gonzo on defense.

I really don`t know anything about it.
But I actually have seen a couple of OHs wearing it. Zaytsev is one of them.

No high level player is wearing them for visual que reasons.. Long sleeves/bands do help with absorption/control a little though.

Think Nicole Davis and Destinee Hooker. I'm not talking about the sweat bands or the elbow ones (ala Kelli Bates) but just the sleeves.

For those who have used them, any preferred brands?

To keep the muscles warm and improve circulation since the jerseys are short/cap/no sleeves elbow issues maybe, floor burn protection, super sweaty forearms making it hard for the setter to handle the ball. I know the arm bands work well for younger athletes to help with cues, and as they get older they wear them out of habit, not because they need them.

Why the women play with long sleeve shirts in the NCAA? I always wondered that.

Long sleeves just relieve worry about a sweaty platform IMO.

Ditto. My Libero DD wears for elbow padding purposes only (and usually only when she already has a goose egg on her elbow). I think she has a nike compression sleeve with elbow padding that works very well. We bought it at Dicks Sporting Goods but not in volleyball section--maybe in soccer or baseball? But it definitely does the trick.

Isn't part of the advantage feedback, as well...you know if you passed the ball with the correct portion of the arm (hits sleeve) or not (hits skin?)
