Someone mentioned Day/Hochevar were playing Kerri/Nicole in a country quota match at Porec. This seems ridiculous given that Kerri won 5 events last year and Emily/Britt have had a solid year so far while Fendrick/Lane and Hughes/Claes get in despite being lesser teams this year, and despite Lane generally being not good at volleyball.
I assume its too late now, but is there anyway that USA Volleyball could have prescribed which US teams would get priority here?
Also from the FIVB's perspective how incredibly stupid is it to have the best player of all time playing an anything can happen Country Quota while Lane Carico gets in? I can't stand Kerri, but this is disrespectful to the extreme.
Has anyone ever gamed the FIVB points system better than Lauren Fendrick? I can think of at least 3-4 FIVB events where her seed has been higher than her career best finish.

I'm VERY surprised she didn't get a wild card, but she's been a healthy scratch since Ft. Lauderdale.
Not sure how the points are figured this year. Clusterf*ck.

Very likely the wild cards for Porec had already been handed out by the time Walsh announced her partnership with Branagh.

I know its two per season during the Olympic qualification period, but I don't know if it's the same during non-Olympic qualification seasons like 2017.

Thanks JB....Who do you have in this match? I have Em & Brit...I think too much rust for Kerr & Nic to pull this one out.

Brutal... so Kerri and Nicole just spent around $2000 a piece in airfair to play a single match in Porec... and now get to fly back. Google flights show that as close to 14 hour plane flight one way
Of course Day/Hochevar still need to make it into the tournament as well.. there HAS to be a better way!

Britt and Em take the match 21-16, 21-16 I'm glad Britt and Em took the match. Surprised a little, yes, cause it was against Kerri. But she hasn't been playing tourneys and Britt and Em have. Something to be said for playing tourneys versus just running drills. This may be knee jerking does Kerri pull the plug now since they lost in a country quota?!
