Not a surprise...Takes more than a month of practicing together for the world tour when you haven't competed in Months (Kerri) & years (Nicole). Em & Britt are in mid season form. Maybe by Long Beach, we'll see a different team. They just need to play.

Britt and Em take the match 21-16, 21-16 I'm glad Britt and Em took the match. Surprised a little, yes, cause it was against Kerri. But she hasn't been playing tourneys and Britt and Em have. Something to be said for playing tourneys versus just running drills. This may be knee jerking does Kerri pull the plug now since they lost in a country quota?! No...Kerri will finish season with Nicole.....

Porec is a nice place. Kerri can tell Casey she's still in it and that he needs to watch the kids while mommy works.

They have a WC into Gstaad so they will play that next week, but if they have similar results I can't imagine Kerri sticking it out with Nicole. A loss is one thing, 16 and 16 to a solid midcard team like Britt/Em is another. May be Kerri's worst non-injury loss in 20 years

Maybe it wasn't all on NB. Again, 1st match in forever besides doing drills in MB against college girls. Kerri has NO CHOICE but to stick with NB now. If she changes, she doesn't have a partner for the world Championships or Long Beach. I def. expect the same results in Gstaad. It appears just from live scoring they looked awful. Better does not come with practice, it will come in competing. They need to sign the AVP contract & play. Play as much as they can...I am sure neither is happy about this result but it is what it is! Suck it up & get better. I agree, Em & Britt are mid pack at best. They even seemed surprised after the match. Will be interesting to hear KWs assessment.

Brutal... so Kerri and Nicole just spent around $2000 a piece in airfair to play a single match in Porec... and now get to fly back. Google flights show that as close to 14 hour plane flight one way Of course Day/Hochevar still need to make it into the tournament as well.. there HAS to be a better way! I'm gonna go out a limb & say that this trip probably didn't cost Kerri a dime. Only thing it cost her was a little pride. Don't worry..her sponsors are not jumping off the bandwagon just yet with one loss in a match which many will feel she shouldn't have had to play in to begin with. I don't know about the country quota match myself except I guess rules are rules. You can't break them for even one of the best in the game. April must be laughing!!

Let's just say a little rust was the reason. But to get beat by 5 points both games?? Not good

Agreed that I can't say I'm totally shocked by the outcome, since when was the last time Kerri played in a match? February? Bound to be more than a bit of rust. But still, no matter how you play it, it was not a good day for either Kerri or Nicole. This was supposed to (assuming that was indeed the plan) jump start her already wonky season, not continue the trend of "huh?!" losses. Still, I can't see how much better the team can get without frequently playing competitively (ie: on AVP).
You have the top tier teams to contend with internationally, but I would argue the "mid-tier" is still fairly deep and as dangerous. I don't think at this stage anyone can really expect to go to a major FIVB event cold and automatically expect a deep run.

I can imagine KW is steaming after this loss which is most likely the reason for no comment on the match as of yet. I think her & Nicole fully expected to get past the Country Quota anyway. HAD to be rust.. Like I said earlier, they need to play.

Said all the right things...Just didn't do all the right things...Love to be in that team meeting on the flight to Switzerland....Glad they don't have to play a CQ in that one or the World Championships. Can't imagine them having to play a great USA team right now if they can't get a set off of just a good team. Not one comment after the match from either Kerri or Nicole. That's a huge statement right there.

That's a huge statement right there. "Branagh said she’s not concerned with being rusty." That probably changed rather quickly. Again, don't expect this to be the result in Gstaad, but totally agree. Silence speaks volumes, and need more than practice sessions to shake the kinks out. I heard rumors that neither Kerri/Nicole were actually gonna play on the NVL this season. Wonder if that will hold true. Granted, it's not on the same level as a five-star FIVB, but still something, at least. It's early, I know, but at this point, really don't see this team being in the running for the World Championships.
