The national team didn't stream a home match against Brazil. This is nothing compared to that. The National team doesn't have the resources nor budget of TAMU athletic dept or university nor any SEC team. akbar, I hope to be able to go to match tomorrow as long as work cooperates. If I go down I will take my Ipad and video for all you whiny-ass Penn Sters.  |

Where is the livestream for this? Unacceptable if there isnt. You know damn well if you are going to start the match thread you need to have a poll and some pre-match notes including projected line-ups, player injuries, etc.. Geez... first rampage trying to slack off on B1G review, and now you (seasoned VTer) with the lame match thread! WTH is going on this season on VT??? |

I'm almost positive there isn't a live stream. I know someone who sent a very passionate email to Texas A&M, commenting on how ridiculous it is. Who do we email about this travesty? |

Back to the match versus the whining which has somehow supplanted analysis:
I think there is good chance Lutz doesn't play Friday because Stanford is being very cautious about player injuries. Lutz is out of her boot and can put full weight on her foot and I've heard has medical clearance to play, but better to be safe than sorry.
If no Lutz, then we'll probably see the same lineup as last weekend at The Beach's tournament (Long Beach State for you newbies). Hence, for Stanford, Plummer with be primarily hitting and blocking on the right and freshmen McClure and M Keefe will hit on the left. Tami Alade replaces Inky Ajanaku from last year's NC team and is a pretty solid blocker, touching approx. 10'8" and able to move side to side very quickly. Alade's offense in nowhere near what Inky could provide, so Stanford will use Plummer more and try to distribute out the hitting to all others, like Fitz, McClure, and Keefe.
If I'm reading the reports correctly it looks like PSU played a modified 6-2 against the trio of teams they engaged last weekend. Detering was setting and hitting RS, and Weiskircher was setting from the back row. Whether this was a short lived experiment remains to be seen. RR has been known to tinker quite a bit in the preseason looking for that magic lineup. Nevertheless, when it comes to firepower, State's three primary weapons are Lee, Frantti, and Washington.
Brief Analysis: You know the drill -- PSU probably wins this match if they can be in system enough to get decent distribution on their sets and can use Washington on the slide. This should allow them to exploit a weaker block on the opposing side of the net and hit away from Hentz. If, OTOH, Stanford's serving pressure takes PSU OOS at a high enough percentage to make PSU become one dimensional (primarily using their LS hitters), then Stanford probably secures the W.

It may surprise some of you, but doing an actual broadcast, whether it's on TV on streamed on the web, still requires the same amount of cameras, cables, set-up time, personnel, etc. Yes - mom and dad can stream courtside with periscope on their iphone 7+. And it will look like mom & dad streaming courtside on their iphone 7+. Time, $$, and people are needed for actual real broadcasts - even streamed ones.
Another fun fact - SEC+ isn't going to broadcast two teams that, by definition, aren't in the SEC. I don't see B1G Net carrying MACtion.

In fairness, Texas has a lot to consider right now -- so those staff people who otherwise might focus on this are perhaps distracted by other things. 2200 students from Texas A&M Gulf Coast were evacuated to the College Station campus. Things are tough. and add the 1,200 already dead from India's historical monsoon (very little coverage)kinda put my complaint in the "petty" catagory. 🤐 |

I think when you're at a neutral site, you're at the mercy of the home team's broadcast crew. Think they're going to spend the time and money to broadcast 2 out-of-town teams? They have their own broadcast to work on. If there's one, it will be last minute. I call bull. Put a camera up and uplink it to the website. It's not that hard, not that time consuming, and not that expensive. We don't need a broadcast crew, those overrated SEC broadcasters would ruin the experience anyway. |
