Someone already on staff? Yes. Banana transplant from CA promoted to HC. I know what you mean, but banana transplant just sounds hilarious đ

Yes. Banana transplant from CA promoted to HC. Wow, if that's true no disrespect to Ian but hiring a guy with only 3 years experience and none as a head coach? When the other guy on your staff has 12 years experience as a head coach. Strange This wasnât a player led coup but it was along those lines. I think current team chemistry led to the hiring of the chemistry professor! I think the hire is a win-win-win for players-coach-school. Good Luck to them!

I would wait to see how he recruits first. I guess he got the job on selling his CA ties and promising stream of the best CA gals. Sorry for Ray not getting this one, he is a good and proven coach. Not sure if he is going to stay.

Players - They like him and have good chemistry with him - Win for them Coach - D1 HC after only 3 years exp - Win for him School - Simple, Saves Money, Familiarity - Win for school I didnât mean to imply it was the best choice for wins on the court but based on all the variables & funds available, it clicks some value boxes.

When people find out the salary at Fordham maybe you would know why this hire is definitely a $$$ save. Not many people would take this gig for less than 80k and live in NYC. Even though they are fully funded. The pay has been rumored to be low 60's

Mississippi State would be a possibility or Georgetown maybe - to reunite with Rens.

Ian is more than just CA ties. Worked at KU and spent time on the bench at UT-Austin. Fordham being fully funded is the best thing going for it; older gym, admin focused on FB and BB, playing top 25 teams in conference. If you can win there though, proves you can probably win other places, best of luck to Ian!

It sends the wrong message to players that don't know what it takes to run a college program. And in this day and age, it seems more and more that players being "happy" is what defines a lot of programs...yet most of the time, the things that it takes to win don't always equate with making kids happy. So I'm not sure how that becomes a win- if you're not happy, get a new coach, which usually sets the program back at least a year until new systems, etc. are in place. Now if there is TRUE abuse or something along those lines, that's another thing. But a lot of times, simply being honest with kids and letting them know their strengths and weaknesses gets viewed as abuse.

I said it wasnât a coup but a well liked (and respected) assistant got the job in a budget conscious position. Itâs a win for the 3 factions I mentioned. We will see if that correlates into a better record. Iâll put money on that it does. And itâs more about being respected then being âhappyâ. I guess I was to literal with that term. I didnât mean to imply that everyone will be sitting around camp fires singing Kum bai ah and not practicing hard. Just FYI Karch wasnât available for $80k!

Heard they had finalists a month ago.

Isn't that just a job description? Do you have the link to the posting?

The girl looking at the camera seems very disinterested in whatever he has to say.
