This wasn’t a player led coup but it was along those lines. I think current team chemistry led to the hiring of the chemistry professor! I think the hire is a win-win-win for players-coach-school. Good Luck to them! Not so sure about win-win-win. They went to hire young unexperienced coach last time around, the same mistake again. I would wait to see how he recruits first. I guess he got the job on selling his CA ties and promising stream of the best CA gals. Sorry for Ray not getting this one, he is a good and proven coach. Not sure if he is going to stay. But the previous coach was also good at picking up CA girls, so that doesn't make him any better. IN my opinion, Ray should have been the choice for this gig.

When people find out the salary at Fordham maybe you would know why this hire is definitely a $$$ save. Not many people would take this gig for less than 80k and live in NYC. Even though they are fully funded. The pay has been rumored to be low 60's As much money as Fordham has, that is awful. You could get away with living in the Bronx on 80k but the other expenses will have you eating Top Ramen.

Let me also add that I should not be surprised by the salary seeing how they are treating their professors in term of healthcare and other benefits. The administration is putting the screws to faculty and it down right sucks, so to see them underpaying coaches is right in line with their current tactics.

"Along the lines of player led coup" is rarely a win. It sends the wrong message to players that don't know what it takes to run a college program. And in this day and age, it seems more and more that players being "happy" is what defines a lot of programs...yet most of the time, the things that it takes to win don't always equate with making kids happy. So I'm not sure how that becomes a win- if you're not happy, get a new coach, which usually sets the program back at least a year until new systems, etc. are in place. Now if there is TRUE abuse or something along those lines, that's another thing. But a lot of times, simply being honest with kids and letting them know their strengths and weaknesses gets viewed as abuse. You’re reading way too much into it. Take a deep breath. I said it wasn’t a coup but a well liked (and respected) assistant got the job in a budget conscious position. It’s a win for the 3 factions I mentioned. We will see if that correlates into a better record. I’ll put money on that it does. And it’s more about being respected then being “happy”. I guess I was to literal with that term. I didn’t mean to imply that everyone will be sitting around camp fires singing Kum bai ah and not practicing hard. Just FYI Karch wasn’t available for $80k! Just reacting to your player coup comment. Maybe you didn't intend, but that's a strong statement IMO. I've seen too many friends get let go due to player coups and exaggerations.

Another wildly over the top assessment of an assistant coach's qualifications. This time it comes from the head coach instead of the SID.

I don’t disagree that it’s a pretty high praise, but isn’t this what everyone does? I haven’t seen the press release that says “She’s an average coach, but I know I can trust her and that means a lot.”

Ulmer needed a security blanket. lol Dillard is a decent coach, but she picked up a lot of bad habits at LBS. Hopefully, she'll experience some growth in a new, competitive environment.
