Also, this thread is NOT for the discussion of engine oil!!! What a bunch of doofs. Can we discuss vegetable oils? Because why the hell is olive oil so damned expensive? Also, can I put it in my car? Windshield wiper fluid?

I never know what to ask for. Synthetic blend is more expensive than full synthetic. But just a $1 more. Oh, wait. I read that wrong. Full synthetic is $15 OFF, so I assume it does cost more. Usually I just put water in there, with some food coloring. Jeezussssss...I thought your question was rhetorical. Just check your user manual for your vehicle. It's all in there. Synthetic is the way to go but honestly, I don't think it really matters re. the life of your vehicle or even frequency of oil change. I go 7,000 miles between oil changes. If you go 7,000 how do you handle the maintenance or engine light coming on? Doesn't it annoy you when your maintenance light comes on after 3,000 or 5,000 from your last oil change? I would go 7,000 also but that light is too annoying for me and also if it is on it could mask other problem that arose between 3000/5000 and 7000 miles.

If you choose to only do one of them, change the filter rather than changing the oil and leaving an old filter. Most oil and some filters can now last far more than 3000 miles, but everybody in the business of selling you oil and/or oil changes will still tell you 3000 miles because ... well, it's obvious why they will tell you that.

It had a flat '4 that I had to have rebuilt for $300! Ah; those were the days! I sold it 2 years for the same I paid for it! Great resale value on the Volks!

It was the attacks on poor (R)uffda! that crossed the line. I mean, really, if you don't like (R)uffda! you should just move to Bulgaria.
I have no dog in that fight, mind you.
Woof. Woof.
