Kinda strange. But whatever! She’s probably still very much friends with Jen Kessy. Did anyone notice April chuckling when they were discussing how when she was partnered with Kerri, she knew she’ll always have a partner when Kerri returned from injury? April was laughing about wine or that statement? 🤪

Obviously 🙄 April quite bitter about the way things ended. It’s quite clear it was Kerri’s decision. But that’s the business part of the sport. They weren’t looking in thensame direction anymore. If that was the case, it was time to move on for both of them. It certainly appears like April’s drive to Toyko will go much smoother than Kerri’s but time will tell. Hope the 2 best teams Go to Toyko & Bring Home some hardware. Just seems like an interesting choice in coaching to me...Hope they have a backup plan when they realize Kessy won’t get it done in the coaching aspect. I should reserve judgment though....

What happened to Marcio? Thought he was coaching April. Someone mentioned it on that thread.

I dont know why you would assume she wouldnt. Kessy and Ross are the single best example I can remember of a team that was more than the sum of their parts. When they got together Jen was the older vet and April was still relatively new so I assume Jen led that team for a while. Maybe their coach at the time should get the credit for the years they spent punching above their weight, but compare them to April/Kerri, who were less than their individual talents and suddenly Jen seems like a pretty good choice as a coach. I wonder how they organize practice though. April is at an age where she should be conservative in how much time she practices where Klineman's main need is reps and practice. If I were Jen I would have Alix practicing without April regularly as well as with her

I THought Kerri & April made a great team. No they didn’t win as much as Misty & Kerri did but really did anyone expect them to? I’m way behind the scenes and I guess somewhat in the minority, but other than having completely different personalities, I thought they meshed well on the court.

Best in the world or top 3 for virtually their entire run, but to me that was because they were both top 5 players and for part of their partnership they were 1 and 2 in the world (IMO anyway). I don't think they complemented each other in terms of skill, I thought they played the wrong sides for parts of their partnership, and I think they never really established a clear paradigm for communication. I look at how they played when Kerri was injured and roles were 100% clear and compare that to when both were healthy and the way they interacted seems very different. Great team, maybe even a top 10 or 15 women's team all time, but given how good both were individually, I think they could have been more.

Their interaction and public personas felt forced and a little fake. Misty and Kerri, and Jen and April seemed to really care for each other.

Great two episodes. April is a great interview, very open and knowledgable. On a side note, Travis, WahineFan44 is pronounced "Y-he-ney", as in University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine. Love what you and Tri are doing for the sport. Someone else mentioned Kerri Walsh as a guest. That would be great. Feelings aside, it would be interesting to hear her thoughts.

Appreciate the pronunciation help haha but yes, April is a phenomenal interview, and yes, we'd love to have Kerri on. Working on it
