I believe Ohio State would take her. Taylor Hughes only has one year of eligibility left and will be a 4 year starter. Hughes switches to OH during one of the rotations, so HA would get playing time. Atherton would then have two years to start for her home town team after Hughes graduates. Story book ending. 1. Atherton would have to sit a year for in-conference transfer unless granted a waiver. 2. Hughes has retired from the sport and will not be back for her final season. So, yes, OSU is desperate for a setter transfer right now, I don't think this solves their problems.

Hunter Atherton Nebraska to ? C'mon back home to Columbus, Hunter Atherton. I personally do not see Hunter playing in B1G. She's not consistent with her setting and she is short. I dont see her getting much playing time in many B1G school.s

I think she'd be a good fit at a Big 12 or maybe an ACC school running a 6-2.

It's become a quality of life concern, so she is retiring.

Ohio State showed some interest in Hunter during her recruitment but she wasn't that thrilled about attendng Ohio State. This was told by Hunter at our table during the pre-season meet & greet her freshman year. Also in one article this year Hunter stated that she loved it at Nebraska. Things can always change though where she definitely could change her mind if she does want to transfer.

Wasn’t Hancock, Carpenter, and Alexandra Palmer all 5’11 or shorter? 2 of those won national championships setting? As did Hunter. Additionally Ohio state had a similarly-sized setter this year and Purdue will prob have a 5’10 setter next year.
Sorry, you just weren’t trying hard enough.

So what are the odds that the Big10 allows in-conference transfers to play right away? (I mean the transfer players doesn't have to "sit" a year). I know it happened for Clark, but anyone have any insights?

I know it happened for Clark, but anyone have any insights? I think it was demonstrated this year when Clark got her release that nobody on here really knows what’s up with the committee that makes the decision. Or if they know, they aren’t telling here. IDK if we see a huge wave of infra-conference transfers this year. Absent a rule change, anyone who transfers within the B1G is gambling that they’d sit and lose a year. They’d a big risk.
