So, for those in the know, did she consider/visit Baylor before committing to Maryland while in high school? There's a difference between "family in Texas" and "family in Waco, TX". Like in other states, not all areas are the same just because the are within the state borders. No - she was focused on the Big 10. Since she would have had to sit out a year, she focused on schools outside of the Big 10. Her family is 2.5 hours away but close enough to go to some games and for her to visit on down time. It's too bad she couldn't take advantage of the Tiffany Clark mystery waiver. We are going to miss seeing in her in the B1G.

I know. Did I say other wise? My point was there are many bible studies and faith based services that teams and players do that play at state funded universities. They do it consistently and prayerfully but obvsiouly are not allowed to advertise that. Baylor, being a private school, has no such restriction and is allowed to advertise their faith association. Unfortunately, the previous coaches, athletic administrators, and President did not take that association seriously! It seemed like you were inferring that "most times state funded schools", you were talking about Baylor being state funded, but different in that they were bringing faith into education. Sorry. I reread my first post you responded to. It was confusing. My bad.

I would think a sudden unforeseen head coaching change would count as a hardship. Just needed a lawyer willing to call the Big10 office. Probably also helps to have a long term Big10 member on your side. Penn St, Neb & Rutgers were probably not on the table. Sounds like Baylor is a good fit and looks to be on par with a top tier Big10 program (sans the big2)!

I recall a comment Gia made about choosing Maryland. It was something along the lines of that she likes to be the underdog. She likes to walk around with a chip on her shoulder. She likes the opportunity to be the spoiler, to come in with the upset, etc.
If that's the case, and other values align - academics, location, religious involvement, team chemistry - then it sounds like Baylor would be a great fit for her as an up-and-coming program in the Big XII.

I think we know which way Maryland goes after this....back to the B1G basement. More transfers to follow. I certainly hope Maryland isn't already committed to a tougher schedule next Fall. That (plus Rutgers) could be very traumatic to B1G RPI. And Northwestern, Big 10 could have 3 teams sub 150 rpi, 2 of which could very well be in the 200's. Hopefully Wisconsin only has one match against each of them next fall. And who knows what Indiana will do this year.........

K. McLaughlin to Oklahoma is a big transfer too. She may not have been on everyone's prep radar, but there are probably only 1 or 2 setters from the 2017 class that had a better frosh campaign. This is a great transfer, albeit to Oklahoma....gag.

Her club team which she led every year: 14’s - USAV Open Gold Medal 15’s - USAV Open Bronze Medal 16’s - USAV Open Gold Medal 17’s - USAV Open Gold Medal 18’s - USAV Open Silver Medal I’m not sure there is anyone in the history of the sport that has collected a better closet of hardware at the club level. Just sayin she was probably on a couple people’s radar.

I wish Atherton would declare already.
The suspense is killing me.

So a player wanting to transfer intra-conference has to be willing to sit a year and lose a year. There are no guarantees that they will get a waiver.
