Well how would the transition for a WTM be in the sport? Imagine a 6'7" woman transitioning and then attempting to play the mens game. Doesn't mean it could happen but it seems the odds wouldn't favor the WTM as it would the MTW. Why does that matter? That matters because people are saying she has an unfair advantage being born physically male playing the woman’s game. Just because she transitioned to a woman doesn’t mean she has given up some of her physical advantages. We’re asking for equality here and I just don’t see how it would be equal for a woman transition to a man, in the sport. The woman transitioning will not have the physical attributes that the man transitioning to the woman has. And before anyone says I have a problem with X.. I don’t. It’s just scientific fact. Male vs female bodies are physically diffeeent regardless of what’s in your pants. She looks good out on that court and we won’t know how good she really is until playing the best. What are the Rules for transgender athletes at the Olympic level?

You can feel any way you want. It has no effect on the outcome, as rules and guidelines have been created by the governing bodies for this specific potential issue. So it's just tilting at windmills and screaming into the wind. If we see a million-person influx of transgender MTF to the sport, we can have another conversation. Until then, the numbers it effects are so infinitesimal as to be insignificant. People are merely bothered by this because it is visible, not because it is significant. Just because there are rules and guidelines in place right now does not mean that they are the best possible set of rules. If that were the case, old rules would never be changed or adjusted. Clearly that is not the case. Screaming into the wind is 95% of VT... If we really thought we could make some big change we would be talking to FIVB, not a bunch of volleynerds behind a computer.. It may be insignificant to you, but to the other players in the league it may be a very big deal. Again, regardless of how significant it is to the entire volleyball world in general, people here seem to have pages and pages of things to say about the topic. Don't try to shut it down saying it is insignificant when there are over 16 pages worth of discussion on it.. If you don't care or are offended, pick a different thread. Exactly, well stated. Funny the ones saying it’s the rules put out by the FIVB and to get over it are most likely the same ones still crying about Trump winning (electoral college) and screaming at the sky. People have a right to voice their opinions and disagree with the FIVB rules. Rules that can still be changed and updated.

What are the Rules for transgender athletes at the Olympic level? IOC rules are that those who participate in women's sports need to have testosterone levels below some limit level. However, they are not presently in force due to legal challenges, and at the moment any athlete can participate in whichever class they claim to be a part of. (That quote is from Breitbart, so take it for what it is worth. It likely is distorted.)

So going by those reports, the current rule is that no surgery is required (no checking under people's shorts to see what they have down there). Each sport federation makes its own rules, but the IOC recommends M->F transition should have one year of hormone therapy before participating.

No one sane doubts that Trump won the electoral college, and that's why he's in the White House right now when he's not out golfing. There is a difference between accepting reality and liking it. In the same way, reality is that there are rules that govern who can play women's sports. You may not like the rule, but that's your own issue to deal with. The people who don't like Trump are following the process to try to reverse that. If you want to try to reverse the rules about transgender athletes, then you can follow the process to try to do that.

Bottom line, it gives players an unfair advantage.

When it is being reported that women from high school to the international level of play are jumping and touching heights of 11'6" and higher than what does it matter if a man transitioning to a woman is playing with women. That seems like a level playing field with that type of talent. According to this type of reporting heard on numerous broadcast both radio and television, and reported on this very board women are very capable of reaching the best touch heights reported in men's sports including the NBA and college levels. If true, let transgender men play unimpeeded it should not be a problem particularly at the Olympic level.

Because I think it limits professional opportunities and compensation in a sport they love for those born female. One spot on one team in one league effects opportunities for all non-transgender women and makes them make less? I don’t understand.

What are the Rules for transgender athletes at the Olympic level? So, that a FTM may struggle to compete at a high level in volleyball against men means MTF people can’t play against women? That represents equalty to you? So does it mean if a 5’5 man will struggle to make play men’s ball that 5’5 women shouldn’t be allowed to play women’s ball?

Do the children of hall of fame athlete parents have a fair advantage? Do 6’8 women have a fair advantage? Does a player with a surgically repaired knee have a fair advantage over one who needed but didn’t have the surgery? Why is one advantage unfair and the other isn’t?

In the end, while some notions of sport still persist in a "spirit of the game" sense of "sportsmanship", most people accept that playing the sport by the established rules defines what is a "fair advantage".

If true i'm more interested in them than this thread. If false, why the bs?

Bottom line, it gives players an unfair advantage. You know what else gives an unfair advantage? Access to high-level training. Opportunity biases against minority athletes. Socioeconomic status. Do you think Gamova had an unfair advantage? Or Luis? Do you think her parents stacked the deck, gene-wise? Hell, have you seen Alhassan’s contact point? Talk about an advantage. Even Plummer is very physically different than the majority of other female volleyball players out there.
