USC is a great school...in a lousy crime-ridden 'hood...but that may not be the school's fault. Hmmm. When is the last time you were in the neighborhood surrounding USC? I am there regularly. Definitely not my favorite area, no matter how hard they are trying to push the "urban revitalization" schtick.

USC has done a ton to IMPROVE the neighborhood. Pepperdine, on the other hand, ran away and where their old school was is easily one of the most dangerous areas in Los Angeles today.

When those two USC grad students were shot dead in cold blood, just a mile from campus. South-Central...sorry..."South LA", always had a somewhat sketchy reputation. Maybe its unfair to paint it purely in a negative light and ignore the improvements and pockets of vibrant community that exist there, but you can't deny it doesn't have the best image in terms of crime. Of course, that doesn't mean USC isn't a great school. It is one of the top schools in the country, no question, academically and athletically. Just be a little careful if you have to venture in the immediate neighborhood around the campus.

Definitely not my favorite area, no matter how hard they are trying to push the "urban revitalization" schtick. I could understand why it is not people's favorite area - but there is little crime directly around campus and violent crime is practically nonexistent on campus minus the occasional shocking event that could happen at any college. The biggest "thugs" are on 28th st They in love with the COCO....... But they are protected because frat bros got money.

Just long enough to know university park ain't always so great in terms of personal safety. Of course, this was some years ago now...so maybe its pretty safe now.

So, your post that the area around campus is crime-ridden is based on reflections from what year? Are you a graduate?

So, your post that the area around campus is crime-ridden is based on reflections from what year? Are you a graduate? Why do I need to tell you my personal details? I can ask you, can you prove it is the safest area in LA? Ahhh. Your favorite game - twisting people’s words to make them angry. It is not the safest area in LA. I don’t need to prove that as I did not claim that. Can you prove it is crime-ridden? You claimed that, so provide the proof. Can your prove you are knowledgeable about the area? You don’t appear willing to do that either.

One horrific crime in 2014 does “prove” a neighborhood is “crime-ridden.”

So there, the evidence is plain: www.uscannenbergmedia.com/2016/09/29/usc-vs-ucla-violent-crime-reports/Like I said, I am not in LA or California anymore, so maybe things have changed for the better.
