What the heck, why are the matches so early? Now I gotta choose between my church’s Christmas service and Gator volleyball. Ugh! On the bright side, at least these matches can be replayed. Even dvr'd from ESPN3. Please go to church, agean09 -- don't make "Anyone" mad at the Gators... (Corrected - other match is on ESPNU - UF v BYU on ESPN3. Next round on ESPNU.)

I hope so too. BYU has a lot to play for as well. First time hosting a Regional. Miller. I think Florida matches up rather evenly with them, especially the version of Florida we've seen the last 3 matches. Also, any chance we can get to knock Texas out of the tournament, there's always extra motivation involved. I think it needs to be a complete game from the whole team to make it past the Cougs. They'll have to draw upon the experience of playing in high altitude (Northern Arizona tournament) and a hostile environment (Nebraska, Kentucky) Yes, that is true! I'm hoping someone somewhere recored the ones at UCF. Though, with that annoying browser refresh, I doubt it would be anything quality. If anyone captured it, it would be TCMullet. He can do some amazing things.

The UCF videos were produced poorly by them on numerous levels, though the commentary was good. Motion was incorrectly blurred to deinterlace 60 fps down to 30. No help for that sadly. But I mentioned somewhere my high suspicion that the "browser refresh", as you call it, was a glitch in the player somehow and did not affect the data stream. I was right, no pauses or dropouts in the data sream; the player simply didn't handle the data stream coming to it correctly. But I really wished they hadn't messed up that deinterlacing. If they have to drop it from 60 to 30, better to drop the odd frames (like everyone else does) rather than blend them with their neighbors. Ugly as all ____. And I'm sad FSU didn't survive to Round 2. But they'd have to have beaten FL, which would be unacceptable. I want a FINAL of FSU v FL! Karch said something during the Rice v Texas St. match about the committee and rival teams meeting each other, but I couldn't make out what he said.

When was the last year Florida didn't have an All-American recognition? I doubt Kramer gets recognized and she's our only shot.

I was surprised Hall was not All Region even if she did miss a few matches. Also Hammons, and Kellum were not Honorable Mention, because both came on strong the last 1/3 of the season.

She's led the team in many stat categories throughout conference play. Also wish Hammons and Kellum got nods - especially with Kellum being a senior, though vbprisoner is right with the surge towards the end.

Poignant article on Gator Senior, Taelor Kellum: Finding Faith: Kellum got a boost, both athletically and spirituallyBy Mari Faiello, Sports Writer Nov 30, 2018 Updated Dec 3, 2018 Taelor Kellum walked into the Gale Lemerand practice facility at the University of Florida looking for answers. The then-junior middle blocker was on her way to have a one-on-one meeting with coach Mary Wise. Nothing unusual for the end of the spring season just before the summer break. Kellum had been struggling. And people noticed. She had gotten familiar with standing on the sidelines. She’d watched her team from the corner of the court for the past two years after a brief playing stint in the beginning of her freshman year. But now she was an upperclassman. It was now or never. She and Wise sat down for their chat, a candid conversation that got real as quick as one of her kills nails the hardwood. Wise expressed her concerns and how she wanted Kellum to do something different and outside of her comfort zone that summer. Kellum knew the importance of her leadership would be crucial for the team during the 2017 season and moving forward. Something had to change, which was why she was happy to tell her coach she was flying out to California for a week by herself. Wise’s interest was piqued. Kellum was on a mission to find her identity outside of volleyball and her relationship with her religion specifically. To know that she could find pleasure in things without letting them completely take over her life. To prove that she could be a leader for this younger squad despite the fact she hadn’t started in two years.... ( click link for more)

It probably is a bit ironic that my plan is to be searching for beer in Gainesville rather than watching volleyball on Friday.

My heart breaks for Kellum. A few days before the match I read an article on her and how she "found herself" the summer before her junior year. She was benched for Kramer during her sophomore season. And now in her last game, on her birthday, she was benched in favor of Dooley. Tough pill to swallow. Neither her or Monserez played their best match to end their career. Such is life though. Thank you both for being great reps of UF and giving your all on the court. Go Gators!
Who wants to start the 2019 thread?

Sad to see girls of such quality leaving a program. Let's hope that incoming players can demonstrate similar qualities because things can cascade rather quickly.
