Outstanding job by the Hawks. Hopefully, the growth, improvement and momentum will continue.
Seeing how I mentioned it earlier, UNI beat Drake 25-20, 25-18, 25-22. Good win for the Panthers. Drake isn't "there" yet, but I don't think they're that far off.
All the best to the Hawks on Sunday. You all have a great weekend.

Okay... so the win over Michigan State was great and looking at gaming the tournament selections, definitely necessary. My guess would be we need to be at least 10-10 in conference play to make the tournament. The absolute must-wins that we have for the rest of season would probably be:
Northwestern Rutgers Northwestern Maryland Rutgers Indiana Maryland
And then we have a string of matches against the rest of the middle of the pack that we need to pick up at least 2-3 wins out of:
Purdue Michigan State Purdue Ohio State
And then obviously any wins against the top dogs in conference would really shake things up (Wisconsin, Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois, & Penn State).
We gotta beat Northwestern this week... and then a win against Illinois would do ridiculously good things to our chances of making the tournament.

I'd laugh if both UNI and Iowa made the tournament, and the committee set them up as the 2/3 match at some site.

Cali Hoye has been the difference maker so far, just ahead of the surprising solid play by freshman middles, especially Jones. (Jones should be B1G freshman of the week before it's over.) Hoye's right arm and/or wrist must double jointed - like a snapping whip, as you say. And yes, great, positive demeanor.
Letting Michigan slip away was painful, and tall task to best Illinois on the road, but stealing one there not out of the realm of possibility. Go Hawks!

I would shed tears of joy just to make the tourney, with Best in Iowa 2018 honors at stake to boot. Fairly sure the only way the committee would set that up would be if it was a host site that was a "bus trip" for both UNI and Iowa (i.e. less than 400 miles). And it couldn't be a Big Ten school (or an MVC school, not that any MVC schools will be host sites this season anyway). Creighton would be one possibility, but I'd really hope that they wouldn't set up UNI to possibly play an opponent in the second round who they've already played twice this season. Iowa State would be a possibility many years, but I doubt they'll be a seeded team this season. Marquette would also fit the bill, but again, they're not likely to be seeded this season.

The Hawks playoff chances hinge on winning ALL of the games on the road against teams like NW. That 5 set win was HUGE! It is tough to win on the road in this conference, against any of the teams. Road wins matter...

Road wins matter... So true. Plus, builds confidence that they have shown they can close in set 5 against NW and Syracuse. However, would have even been better if they would have ridden all that momentfum from the set 3 beatdown into set 4 and taken care of business then. But we'll take it! Let's play loose this week against Nebraska and Wisconsin. Nothing to lose so go all out, Hawks!

We’ve got a brutal week ahead of us... Nebraska & Wisconsin are up next!
I just want to see some fight. Every set, every point, just battle. That true mental toughness mindset will help prepare them to get the job done for the following week.

With the parity being just insane in the B1G this year I think not only are the top wins a must (thank goodness for that first Northwestern win!) but I think we’re going to have to throw Michigan St. and Ohio St. into the top as well. The Purdue matches would be nice to steal, and if we are going to grab a marquee win somewhere we’ll have two chances with them, but MSU and OSU are probably necessary to solidify us as honestly deserving.

The problem is RPI. Looking at the RPI futures, Iowa went down after losing to Illinois and beating Northwestern. I'm not sure another Michigan State win will help much with RPI. Really need to beat Purdue at least once and then pick up at least one win against Ohio State/Minnesota/Nebraska/Wisconsin. That would probably put the RPI into a good enough spot to get an at-large bid.
