Also, shout to Cali Hoye... 58 kills on the weekend to score 4.46 per set! I know we joke about that OH2 carousel sometimes, it certainly stopped at the right workhorse this weekend! So true!!!! And for the past two years, she has been nothing but the most positive, energetic teammate to those on the floor. Love to see her making the absolute most of her opportunities now that she is out there. GO CALI!!!!

Congrats to Louis (MVP), Coyle and Kelly being named to the Cyclone Classic All-Tournament team! Hoye sure could have been in the running as well. With three solid wins and some very strong individual performances, maybe the Hawks will be represented for the first time this year in B1G weekly honors tomorrow?

I mean Cali Hoye w/ 4.46 kills & 2.38 digs per set was an obvious standout for us, although a .222 clip is probably low... Louis wasn't that far behind in kills w/ 4.23 kills per set & a .328 hitting percentage. Orr w/ 10.92 assists per set and leading the team to 3 straight wins on a tough weekend for us could garner her some recognition (remember, I have no idea how the other B1G teams did so I don't mean this as a comparison but just an applause of our accomplishment this weekend). And Kelly w/ 5.08 digs per set & only 2 reception errors on the weekend I mean COME ON... WOW. Iowa Rockets has to be so proud of her, as are we all!

Going over the play-by-play and stats for Wyoming and am seeing what you're all talking about. Hoye had 19 kills, 14 digs and 20.5 points against the Cowgirls. She's been doing well this season and it's cool to see her receiving the attention.

We can give out our own awards on VT, so I nominate Cali for MVP! Nothing against Lou at all, but Hoye was out for 6 Ro’s and doesn’t usually get the recognition. The MSU game on Friday is a B1G one! #PointHawks

Coming away with a win against either squad would be huge, and more than possible.

Iowa just tweeted that Hoye was voted on all-tournament this weekend! (Maybe they heard us!) Absolutely no slight to Coyle, let give us 4 awards for the players this weekend! ;-) #PointHawks

I swear the original article I read said Coyle and not Hoye for the all-tourney team but I now see Hoye indeed listed. My bad, folks! Outstanding and well-deserved! EDIT: I knew I was not crazy! See link to article below in the DI that references Coyle and not Hoye. Swear it was that way on hawkeyesports.com as well at first. Anyhoo...the amazing takeaway here is that we had so many great individual performances that it realistically could have been either!! GO HAWKS! Bring on the B1G!! daily-iowan.com/2018/09/16/iowa-volleyball-continues-hot-streak-beats-cyclones/

Thought this was a pretty cool article about the Hawks as they enter B1G play. Insight into background of the program and the turnaround, into the behind-the-scenes grit the team showed last weekend in Ames and insight into the future! Specifically, very cool to see this in writing about the new arena. Had sure heard about it but not sure I have seen it "out there" like this unless I have missed it: "The coach is excited about the move to the Iowa Arena at Iowa River Landing in Coralville, a 5,000-seat venue that will be the home of Iowa volleyball starting in 2020. 'When we start to pack a place like that, I think the lid is going to blow off our program because there's going to be so much energy and excitement,' Shymansky predicted." hawkeyesports.com/news/2018/9/20/volleyball-shymansky-hawkeyes-test-progress-with-start-of-big-ten-play.aspxWe're excited for that, too, Coach! GO HAWKS!!

GO HAWKS!! Yesss I had heard rumblings as well but had not seen anything anywhere about the move. As much as I love Carver it is a literal cavern. Which is tough for volleyball when it’s not packing 15,000+ fans. I remember when it was so exciting just to be able to play full court there because we were getting enough fans to warrant it. Iowa Arena should get pretty raucous and I would love for the team to be able to play in that environment!

Formula for W in tonight's match: Orr ---> Lou x >12 per game. I believe Orr and Lou will help Iowa break through the wall in this critical match. (A decent number of blocks from Coyle wouldn't hurt either.) Everything else will fall into place - I hope, I hope, I hope. Huge match.
#FightForIowa! Go Hawks.

Sometimes we tend to force it to Hoye/Coyle when they're having a little bit of an off-night. It's like we're trying to force them to be the go-to when they're just not in their groove and we start racking up errors. I know that's kind of a moot point if passing isn't there but I'm confident Kelly/Buzz will have a good night commanding the backcourt!
