That schedule seemed to support working towards conference champions getting an automatic bid which would have worked out for them if that switch in the selection process was made. The ASUN conference is expanding by 3 more teams ( asunsports.org/sports/beachvball/2017-18/releases/20180417etne44), but none of the new teams are strong. It will be interesting to see whether schools continue to find it useful to be in a weaker conference or not if the selection committee continues to skirt around the move towards granting automatic bids for conference champions like so many other NCAA sports do. Good observation. Many people were expecting automatic conference bids this season, not sure when NCAA told them it wasn't happening. It was probably too late to change the schedule much. My guess is that NCAA will continue with same bids and format until they expand to 10-12 teams, and include automatic conference winners at that time. If anyone hears otherwise please share. P.S. You are too kind. A couple of those new ASUN teams are downright bad. But perhaps they will improve now that they are committed to a conference. The proposal currently on the table for 2019 is a 12 team field with autobids for conference tournament winners - Pac 12, WCC, Big West, CCSA, ASUN (did I forget one?). Don't know if it's a done deal yet, but it sounds like it's more likely to happen than not.

It may even get the independents to form or join a conference. And maybe a few more teams to add Beach.

Check out the net live from yesterday. Right in the beginning, it's discussed why they are doing what they are doing and some of the debates that are occurring between the schools and the Network. Seems like they are still trying to figure out the best approach to broadcasting beach. Seems like the conclusion is that whenever the match has been decided, they will drop off which isn't fair to the other athlete's. It's my understanding you can't even watch a stream with no commentary on the PAC 12 app which makes no sense as they already have all the equipment and operators there. Fair enuff if they are still trying to figure out the best way to show games. Maybe in another 3 years they will have something. 2016/2017 They showed everything Minus one UCLA game because of 2 courts. I dont know how they did it in 2015 as I only seen 1 encore game. But if they are going to cut back on what to show/when to end the broadcast then make it fair by doing it to all the schools. I'd much rather they do it to all schools & not just pick & choose at their desecration at any given time (if that makes sense) 2018 PAC-12 championships they allotted 1h 45min per game & it was going well for everyone until day 2 when there were more 3rd sets & extra points. & then the last game of the night Washington/Stanford (I believe) got cut off when it was 3/1 because of the previous games. It was neither Washington's or Stanford's fault. Every flight before & after that game was shown. I do like the fact that the PAC-12 has good beach coverage. I just dont like the pick & choose when to end a broadcast

Just wondering if any kind soul is going to do the right thing and record/download (from espn's site) every game of the Gulf Shores Tournament this year & upload them to youtube or something for the less fortunate people who enjoy watching NCAA Beach Volleyball but are not privileged enuff to live in America?
I knew back in Dec when I posted that espn had bought the rights that I would get screwed out of watching them effortlessly like I have for the past two years. Unless I'm missing something this is no longer avail to watch on ncaa.com.
*EDIT* When i said every game I meant/mean every court. Which should be a total of 65-70 Looks as tho espn 3 is showing every court while espnU im going to guess will be split going back n forth maybe?

Would all 12 teams go to Gulf Shores, or would there be some sort of preliminary round to cut it down to 8 in Gulf Shores?
