Such a proliferation of 3-2 matches already this year. Guess that is a good thing, right??

USC’s 5s defender is really slow behind the block. I guess she isn’t a true defender, but golly, I am little disappointed. Hitting straight into the block and out on an open net? Then they had about 5 unforced hitting errors in the second half of the second set. I guess the injury to Graudina is really messing with the line-up.

Is May really in the #4 pair? I thought she was a big beach prospect too?

USC and Pepperdine tied 2-2 The 2s pairs tied at 13-13 in the 5th.
Pepperdine wins 3-2. Two consecutive defensive errors by Dennis of USC. To me she is not a 2s-level player, and Bustamante is not a 1s-level player. Last year they were 4s or 5s together. Too big of a jump. Neither can defend at a higher flights.

I can see UCLA moving to #1 this coming week (of course, depending on how the weekend goes).
Any word on when Graudina will be back? Probably most teams would have trouble if one of their top players from the #1 flight is out. I would never count USC out. They have so many good players, they will ride this out.
I have noticed a lot of switching of flights and pairs going on with all three teams (UCLA, PEPP, and USC). Is it strategy, or are they just trying to work out their order and pairings (or both)?

Bustamante & Dennis were pair 4 last year. I also thought for Bustamante at least, shes a good player but I dont think a pair 1 player. I initially thought that but then thought ok, maybe its just because her & Cannon were playing the twins. But no. But at least UCLA beat em both ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Zana Muno seems to be "ill" a lot
