Will UCLA start a trend with more teams going to setting with their hands instead of the bump set?

so it isn't actually a double elimination tournament? No, the winner from the winner's bracket benefits from rest and the winner from the loser's bracket playing a little tired

Really good tournament overall; lot's of close matches. UCLA looked a lot better against FSU the second time around. I think Sarah Sponcil had 4? kills off back sets, impressive hands.

I thought sponcil already used her five year window? No, she has the option to come back to play beach next year if she wants.

I thought I had heard it described as double elim, but I may not have been paying close enough attention (or whoever had said that was just wrong). Either explaination is equally likely. haha

Might even replace the #5 team with better players too. USC will be good. They just need to figure out the bottom of their lineup. Their top two teams are solid.

Sparks may get on one of the 5 pairs for sure. I thought I had heard it described as double elim, but I may not have been paying close enough attention (or whoever had said that was just wrong). Either explaination is equally likely. haha Looks to me like it's a double elimination tournament for every team except the team that goes thru the winners bracket undefeated. The "reward" they get for doing that is they get sent home for losing ONE match. Every other team in the tournament, after their first match loss, gets a chance to play again and redeem themselves, like UCLA did this weekend. So UCLA wins the championship with having one loss in the tourney, that loss coming to FSU. And FSU has one loss in the tourney, that loss coming to UCLA, but they come in second. Seems wrong to me. These two teams should be playing another duel to determine the real champion, IMO. That way all teams that are eliminated from a chance at winning the championship have incurred two loses in duels.

I think Harrer will crack the competitive lineup. She is really, really skilled for a big.
