I'm surprised there's no thread about the Hawaii beach team. If there is one, feel free to delete this one, mod(s).
Anyway,
Hawaii goes 3-1 over the weekend.
Hawaii 5, UCLA 0 Hawaii 4, Stanford 1
UCLA 3, Hawaii 2 Hawaii 3, Stanford 2
I feel like either a pairings change or a flight order change is needed.

I like the idea of making some changes early on in the season. USC coach has been trying different combinations (as is Pepperdine and others). UCLA switched it up today adding in 6'3' Mac May (OH star indoor freshman) at the 5 spot. Proved successful against both Stanford and Hawai'i. I think this season we will see more adjustments from match to match as well from most teams; hope Hall keeps pace and makes adjustments as well. Last year he made very little (if any changes) from the beginning of the season.

With such a large team of good players, players will leave if they don’t get to play. Last year Hall hardly made any changes. I’m curious the thinking behind the lineup.

It seemed odd to see Kan-Weaver at #1 and Martin-Monkhouse at #3. Should be switched. But what do I know? It could be a possibility. I think Martin would have been at #1 with Weaver, but that changed. Martin and Monkhouse only have 1.5 weeks together (versus about 3 - 4 weeks for some of the other pairings). From what I have heard, Schucht and Maglio have been consistently the top pairing in practices (beating all pairs from the old and new pairings). Kan and Weaver are also a new pairing. Kan was previously with Monkhouse who was likely going to be the #3 pairing. With the change-up, Kan moved up to #1. I'm not sure why Hall didn't give Schucht and Maglio a shot at #1? I would think they could be matched up in the #1 spot at least for some of the matches. I would think they would be a better match-up against Cal Poly #1's (T. Van Winden and T. Miric). Martin and Monkhouse could improve to move up. They did lose to UCLA #3's. Still, we could see 1 - 3 move around. No idea what Hall's thought processes are. I can see some concerns with the 5 pairings as well. At 5'9" and 5'7", Zalopany and Dreeuws lacked the height especially when paired against UCLA's Mac May (6'3") and Savvy Simo (5'10"). Of course, they are a new pairing too, so they may improve enough to challenge regardless of the height differential. It would have been nice to insert Fitterer from the 6's to the 5's against UCLA. Originally she was to play with Zalopany at the 5 spot. Hall always seems fairly set on his pairings, but I hope he is willing to make a few adjustments. Teams that can insert various players into the lineup or different pairings are, I think, going to do well this year (unless some dominant pairings emerge). I do like a strong pairing at the 3's.

I was thinking that perhaps Hall was doing a "wash" at #1, hoping that at #2 and #3 were guaranteed wins.

What are your thoughts on adding Ozee and Homayun to the #5 flight and making Zalopany and Fitterer the #4 flight?

Ozee and Homayun would be a good match up against Mac May and. Simo (UCLA 5 pair). Zalopany and is paired with Dreeuws, so. It sure if Hall would put Fitterer back with Zalopany. Two Beach savvy pairs Dreeuws and Zalopany could be good against a smaller 4 pairing perhaps.
If Hall is willing to mix up the lineups, I think this team could be very successful. Of course, it's hard to always predict the other teams lineup as they don't get submitted until just before the match.

After a 10 day layoff, UH plays UCLA at 7am HT and LMU at 10 am HT.
There does not seem to be any links to watch or live stats.
Hall is sticking with same line up from 2 weeks ago.
Muno and Simo take first set on court 5 v Zalopany and Dreeuws 21-9.
Homayun and Ozee lose 21-19 set 1 to Carey and Muret.
UCLA takes first point with a 21-9, 21-15 win at court 5 over Zalopany and Dreeuws.
At CRT.4 UH Homayun and Ozee also lose in straight sets 21-19, 21-18. UCLA up 2-0 on UH.
Maglio and Schucht lost in straight sets.
Kan and Weaver lost in 3.
UCLA up 4-0 and for some reason they haven't reported on CRT. 3 at all on twitter.
Hall needs to make adjustments but will he? His precedence has been not to. The number 5's in particular are not performing well. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the ability to mix up pairings on a match per match basis.

Dang! Hawaii bleeding vs. UCLA and LMU! The pairings must be off or they're overrated.
