Thanks ugopher for noticing my original thread regarding this. Still no luck. As I stated in my original thread. Called several hotels in the area. Those that still do have rooms have a 30 day cancellation policy...which means that leaves us out. No mercy from one hotel at all. IN other words...we wait till the weekend and pray there is a hotel somewhere to be found...of course...we'll end up payin an arm and a leg for it too! One hotel told me rooms that are set aside are for teams and their staff...guess fans dont count....except Packer fans that is! Man, that sucks! No hotel rooms in GB!! BTW, sorry, I didn't know you had written about this before. Just remembered ugopher's thread. Didn't mean to snub you.

You might try Appleton, WI (~30 miles away) or Sheboygan (~60 miles away).

Does anyone know where to look for rooms if Green Bay hotels are all booked? You may want to try Appleton. It is about a 30 minute drive from GB, but it is the closest "major" city to GB.

Does anyone know if the NCAA committee reserved rooms in advance for the 4 teams that will eventually make it to Green Bay? After the brackets were set yesterday, out of curiosity, I ran a few searches. ugopher, you were absolutely right. All the hotels I searched were booked solid. Even if the committee reserved rooms for the teams, I guess they just figure no fans will want to come? But then why schedule a regional in Green Bay? Does anyone know where to look for rooms if Green Bay hotels are all booked? I would be willing to predict that a Green Bay regional is gonna be disaster with respect to the attendance numbers. Nice to "spread it around" NCAA, but you are gonna really get your asses kicked at the gate with a couple of these regional sites!

If Wisconsin (Madison) advances, I expect there'll be a lot of Badger fans making the road trip.

I am thinking about going up to Green Bay to see a match. Unfortunately, I have already burned all my vacation days except one (many to watch volleyball, because I am a geek), and I am using it to see the first round on friday. If the Badgers advance, I will have to consider the morality of calling in sick on a friday to go watch volleyball. As far as places to stay, Appleton is actually nicer than Green Bay, and there are hotels by the four lane highway (41). If that is closed, Oshkosh is south of Appleton, 53 miles from Green Bay (maybe a couple less from the Resch Center). I am still wondering if anyone will show up, other than parents and hard core fans. If Wisconsin makes it, that will help, but I just don't think people in GB care about anything other than the Packers and maybe UWGB sports.

There is a couple of Indian casinos near Lambert Stadium. In fact, they are directly in front of Greenbay airport. Just thought to add this to lure Wahine fans to Greenbay (hopefully the Wahine wii be going there). ;D

It would be hard to it to be much more of a "disaster" than the attendance at the LBSU regional last year. I was very surprised by the relative emptiness of the Pyramid for those matches.

Nice to "spread it around" NCAA, but you are gonna really get your asses kicked at the gate with a couple of these regional sites! It is my understanding, and I could be mistaken here (probably am! but there weren't that many schools that bid for the regionals this year. I'm sure if Nebraska had known that they were going to have the year they had they may have bid. And, since Hawai'i just had a regional last year it would be difficult to award them another regional this year. The Louisville regional may do OK attendance-wise given their more central location and the strong probability of Nebraska being involved and an outside chance of Louisville making it that far. However, Green Bay has the potential to be a disaster, especially if Wisconsin should lose early. Difficult to get to and, as Wahine fans are finding out, lodging is next to impossible. Invite to Wahine fans - come to MN to watch our regional and we will see what we can do to set up a TV or two to watch the Hawai'i in the regional final! If UH admin sets it up right, your team can fly to MN after their regional final and bus to the Pav where you can visit with them and watch our regional final! In any respect, being in Minneapolis is infinitely better than being in Green Bay!

Louisville is a great site for a regional. Volleyball there is huge. There will be great "no affiliation"-attendance in Louisville. What I mean by that is that Louisville will probably get the most tickets sold from people who have no affiliation with any of the four teams that make it to that regional (assuming Louisville does not make it).
I'm not from Louisville, but have been there for USAV junior nationals and adult nationals. They definitely have the fan base for volleyball in general, regardless of team.

I was told when GB was awarded their regional that the GB area has a pretty good amateur sports following and they were excited about hosting the regional. I hope this is true and that the area turns out to see some great volleyball.
I just feel for those who have to travel to follow their teams given the logistics of travel and the hotel situation.
