Let’s all be careful with what we say especially with the frivolous and litigious society we live in

So it’s something with the Kean program. Everything I know about Kean is from reading the D3 threads over the years, but could it be that they decided to throw in the towel already to avoid playoff embarrassment again?

Take away THE TEAM’s previous achievements before the Ginex era and what would have? Nothing. Everyone who knows anything about coach Ginex would agree... he was handed a championship caliber program and has yet to make anything more of it. His resumé is quite similar and you’ll be hard pressed to find a player or fellow coach that won’t tell you he’s an absolute a**h**** and doesn’t actually know anything about volleyball.. A bunch of dogs standing on top of each other in a trench coach could do what he has done, including speak at the AVCA convention.

So I guess it’s pretty serious.

That’s a hard accusation about a coach with a very solid resume and pedigree. Sure he’s had a new assistant coach every year since he started but he’s also developed a bunch of all Americans and at one point Kean was #1 in the country statistically in blocking. They’ve also been ranked #1 by the AVCA. You can’t know nothing about volleyball and make that happen. Whether you like him or not... he doesn’t suck at his job although I can’t say the same about his demeanor with players. However, kids are not what they used to be. His approach is very old school, hard nosed. He’s not a player’s coach. He’s tough and demanding and I don’t know that this generation of student athlete can handle that. I just hope they don’t pull a Naz and not even qualify for the tournament and have to host. That would be awkward.

Being a former player from the area word travels quickly even when you are halfway across the country. From what I have heard it seems like players were taking a stand against his abusive behavior. Apparently, things in the Kean gym are much worse than the outside perceives. I am not sure how accurate this is but it seems like he will also be looking for yet another assistant as his current one walked out on him due to his antics.

Anyone want to shift some discussion to notable matchups this weekend? Here's some I found and my thoughts. Please destroy my predictions.
Friday
Cal Lu vs Carthage — Carthage takes it in 4, loses the battle in the middle but wins on the pins.
Stevenson vs So. Virginia — Not too familiar with either team, so just going to throw %*$# at the wall. Shorts hits .375 and leads to a tight win in 5.
Neumann vs. Kean — Kean team is not present 5 minutes before warmups, shows up at last second. Crazy volleytalk rumors continue. Still wins in 3.
Saturday
Cal Lu vs. Dominican — Have not seen Dominican action against legit teams, first big test. All we really know is they were good enough to take a set off of Lewis. I’ll go Cal Lu in 5, having more knowledge of who Cal Lu is this year.
Cal Lu vs NCC — North Central dropped the first time these teams played in 4. But, that was the first match of the season. After being battle tested, NCC returns the favor, winning in 4.
Dominican vs NCC — Taking North Central in 4 strictly due to resume, and as previously mentioned, no idea what Dominican will be yet.
Stevens vs Stevenson — Stevens wins the battle of the “Steven” in 3.

Kean setter gets a yellow card then the entire Kean bench claps above their heads at the referee. Not sure that's something a coach or a university would proud of. That’s just Kean doing Kean things. Typical stuff by them unfortunately. This week is just another example of Kean doing Kean things. And yes it all starts at the top. Once again, unfortunately I’m not surprised by this week’s rumors either.

Second, "before the Ginex era" was one season. He joined the program in its second season and has been head coach since just after their 3rd season. Granted, that is a really sweet gym but it's not like Kean is a national power in anything else so he's obviously doing something. Last, if you can get dogs to give lectures, what are you doing on volleytalk?

Last, if you can get dogs to give lectures, what are you doing on volleytalk? Yes, you do have a nice gym, coach. Although I think the lights are way too bright. However as I recall from one of your former players ‘We’re just a bunch of kids from Jersey,’ used to be the rallying cry? Now it’s ‘our coach does psychological damage.’ You don’t find that at all to be concerning? And I will reiterate, the guys that built that program were the players who put their sweat and blood into it, not the coach who took all the credit and can’t teach any skills. That guy has taken too much credit for what my friends did there and you have given him too much as well. Just admit that your replacement has done nothing to forward the program. Everyone else knows it.
