So... more teams dropped out... now in the main draw, it’s just: -2S -NB/KWJ -Kelly/Brit
In qualifiers: -Flint/Day -Larsen/Stockman
I don’t understand the reasoning behind why ATeam would skip this event. It’s the week right before Espinho, which I’m assuming most of the top teams would go to that and skip San Francisco because Espinho is right before Gstaad.

Any chance April is getting a guarantee from the AVP for playing their events? I too am curious why ATeam is skipping all these FIVBs. Especially since it is helping lower ranked teams accumulate points. Would anyone with a better understanding of the FIVB seeding/point system shed some light as too maybe ATeam skipping events to not count lesser finishes?

I get it if they were Ostrava for Seattle. But there are no AVP events on the weekend of Warsaw. Kerri needs to thank ATeam. She doesn’t need to play in country quota anymore.

Is FIVB seeding based on best 4 of 6 finishes? I just looked at Alix's finishes and she has a 25th as her 4th highest. You would think they could easily replace that 25th. April has a 9, 5, 1, 9.

Yeah they changed it just 4 now.
If you look at the points, ATeam has a bit more than 2S, although that should change if ATeam is not playing in Ostrava and Warsaw. I hope they actually go to Espinho.

Playing AVP events is financially a much better deal for April/Alix right now. Besides whatever April gets to show up, they are going to win or take second almost every time, especially if other teams are gone.
In the FIVB outdoor season they are making under 5k a tournament. On the AVP they are averaging 12k + and thats after they choked in New York - should be averaging 15-17k per AVP. Definitely other considerations - points/experience etc. but the added prize money and the ability to be home etc. is hard to pass up and getting points for Hawaii probably also a consideration.

Then they’ll probably be competing more internationally when Olympic qualifications start later this year.

It certainly appears that April & Alix are getting compensated for staying stateside for all the AVP events. Interesting..I wonder if the top men’s team is?

It’s just concerning because they’re allowing the teams who don’t have the points the ability to play. That could potentially bump them into country quota/qualifiers depending on how the other teams do in the events they don’t go to internationally.
Only Sara and Summer are going full speed, to the international events as much as possible.

But they’re not playing next week in Ostrava (same week as AVP Seattle) and the week after that in Warsaw (this thread, no AVP conflicts). But they are playing in Espinho (same week as AVP San Fran), which is the week after Warsaw. We’ve got four consecutive back to back tournaments coming up soon!

Brit/Kelly in Pool A as SP/MHP.
Menegatti/Giombini finally into another maindraw. Happy for them! Although I don’t think they’ll make it out of pool with Barbara/Fernanda, Kolocova/Kvapilova (who placed 25th in their home sand last week), and the young Russians.
KWJ/NB in Pool D. They play Huberli/Betschart first. Also in the same pool is silver medalists from last week, Heather and Brandie.
Kelly and Summer in Pool E. They play Schützenhöfer/Plesiutschnig first. Then probably Hermannova/Slukova.
Em Day/Betsi in Pool F alongside Agatha/Barbara, Borger/Kozuch, and Lili/Josi. Aka getting out of pool is not happening.
