Will this still go on? a 2 day tournament?
18s have 3 teams accepted so far and 2 from the same club and 1 pending and 2 that dropped out. 17s have 1 acceptedand 1 dropped. 16 have 3 teams and 2 pending.
If the Vegas club was not in (7 teams), then there would not be more than 2 teams in any pool. Is this a total disaster for SCVA?

This will have to be canceled. These teams can probably still get slotted into the AAU event if released from this "tournament" in a timely manner.

The letter posted by Vegas United raises a some interesting questions. However, their point about "influential clubs" complaining is a bit petty. I'm all for incoluding San Diego in the scheudle, but why would we suddenly have both of our larger events there in the same year? That decision by the SCVA was a miscalculation in my opinion.

Seems like Scva went for a cash grab (making those teams stay in hotels, which the organizers get a % of) and the clubs called BS. Capitalism in action if you ask me! Good for the clubs.

SCVA just let a rooster in the hen house. Stay and Play is very hurtful to the Boys side and since many clubs budgeted for the tournament to be in Anaheim many would not need rooms but San Diego was a different story. All this for a seeding tournament, I am not surprised at all. The SCVA bid tournament was something that many had to probably swallow and this one in June they probably said no thank you.

Im just saying the San Diego Location was way better than Anaheim.
All large events use the stay to play - They use it even when in Anaheim. Its nothing new. And they use that % off to house the refs and staff. Be glad they get it because our cost would go up even more to play in those events, or you would not get enough refs for the events. They get COMP ROOMS not so much cash.
The AAU event got some teams and now is going to battle the poor format they put together and nobody will return to that event.
A pretty easy fix for the budgets - Have your athletes stay with their parents? If it was that big of an issue. Most parents were traveling to the event anyways.
San Diego > Anaheim. "we dont need disney"

"we dont need disney" The San Diego location is better in a couple of ways. But worse in others. If you are a team that will fly in, San Diego is better. Close to the airport and to eat out there are more restaurants within close walking distance. But, if you live in OC, LA, Ventura and above, it sucks to drive an extra 2 hrs to find an easier meal. Driving home Sunday afternoon is miserable from Anaheim to LA and above. 3 x's more if you are driving from San Diego. I think the clubs want to make sure that the SCVA is not going to do this 2 X's per year every year just s o they can make more money.

There is a significantly large amount of OC and LA teams that don’t pay a penny for hotels for the tournaments in Anaheim. You can argue which city is better or closer to an airport or better restaurants and all that, but the bulk of SCVA lives in OC or LA area and don’t stay in hotels for any tournament. Stay and Play is awesome for the organizers and all that but it doesn’t help most SCVA members because they stay at their house and can drive to Anaheim. Even at discounted hotel rooms, your talking about hundreds of dollars parents spend and thousands of dollars a team has to spend on a hotel that they aren’t used to spending.
Moving the tournament was a money grab to get almost everyone paying for a hotel. Almost everyone has had decades of great experiences not paying for hotels or long drives. Sounds like good smart clubs around OC and LA stood up to this BS and good for them. SCVA got what they deserved.
