Will be interested to see how the setters play. Kind of forgot Poulter is 6'2", same as Carlini. I know Hunter tends to get overlooked, but she has played well at the highest level to this point. Will that continue?

Look I like Kelly Hunter and think she's earned the accolades and hardware she's won, but anyone who thinks she's a better setter than either Carlini or Poulter is dreaming. The international game requires setters who are exceptional blockers and can handle lots of out of system balls/sets. Carlini and Poulter are unquestionably the best fit for that kind of game. On the surface I agree with you, but I would like to see more of Hunter too. Nebraska had such great passing and ran such a conservative system that I have no idea how high Hunter's ceiling is. There was flashes of it in the Final 4. I'm glad she's getting a look.

Ogbogu is head and shoulders above McGage offensively and Tapp all around. There's not even a comparison except because of international experience. There definitely is a comparison since Ogbogu played on the same team Tapp replacing her after Tapp's injury, and they each played about a half a season. Ogbogu's blocking numbers are lightly better, but Tapp was better in attack ahead in attack and serve. I'm just unsure what people are citing here, there are actually statistics showing how the Tapps/Mccage/Ogbogu/Rolfzen/Wopat have performed in an international context. I agree that Ogbogu has potential to have a higher ceiling (though Tapp was also developing quite nicely before her injury) but success in NCAA play against Kansas and Iowa State does not in itself put someone "head and shoulders" above her peers. Ceiling is certainly higher. Athletic ability is far better. She is one of the fastest and highest jumping middles I have ever seen. She came into a starting role very late in the Italian league season. Curious...do you have the stats you quote (I am too lazy to find them).

Seems like the better middles in that league are hitting closer to .400, but her blocking is near the top. That's even a better number than Gibbemeyer.

Carlini and Poulter have everything it takes -- size, speed, skills, command on the court. They definitely occupy the first two setter chairs on this team. Then Kelly unassumingly sits in the third chair, awkwardly trying to find somewhere to put her two big trophies. Yeah. Skill at an individual position is all about the number of trophies you've accumulated. If that's the case, look at the AA honors, sullivan award, Gatorade NPOY...why limit it to NC? Hey, I fell over backwards unambiguously agreeing with you in advance. But now that you sort of mention it, my point was to the OPPOSITE of individual awards, all richly deserved by the young ladies from the great states of Wisconsin and Illinois.

I would like to see Mitchem make this roster as she brings a physicality to the OH that the others don't. She is not more physical than Lee. The Annie Mitchem who played in the Italian league is waaaaay more Physical than Simone Lee. I think you are referring to the Annie Mitchem from the NCAA's....LOL! She has definitely upped her game by a lot!

Blue: Best B/S average Yellow: Best D/S average Green: Best SA/S average Red: Best B/S in a season Purple: Best D/S in a season Orange: Best SA/S in a season I was asking for stats from Tapp and Ogbogu because they played on the same team, in the same position, against the same competition. Thinking this is kinda less than meaningful.
