Quoted by Mapuan "Mitchem is the new Kim Hill if you know what I mean.
What this might mean. That she has never been seriously discussed on VT as a future member of the USNT. That she played MB'er in college but is now remaking herself as a OH. That she is a highly motivated professional, with an impeccable work ethic, dedicated to reach the highest levels of Club play. That she is a future starter on the USNT. That Kim Hill is the model for her development as an OH who strives to become: #1 in reception, #1 in floor defense, #1 OH2. And one day she wins the Scudetto, The Turkish Cup, The Club world championships, CL gold, WC gold, garner an MVP here and there and if fate wills it. Win an Olympic gold.
Well I'm all for that...of course that's what I'm hoping for, for Taylor Agost, too.

Mitchem will be playing in Scandicci. If she can get a starting position against the likes of Vasileva, Bosetti, Milenkovic, and Papa in the OH department then I’m solved.

I’m stoked she’s getting better and better. I’m interested to see what Adora and Agost can bring to the table as well!

I’m really excited to see Adora Anae get a shot. Also Annie Mitchem. And Simone Lee. We need some fresh blood on the pins.
If Mitchem excels in the USA gym, you’d better believe her humble JuCo beginnings will be a huge talking point, just like how the commentators can’t stop repeating that Kim Hill joined the team through the CNT tryout process and Karsta Lowe walked on at UCLA.

I would like to see Mitchem make this roster as she brings a physicality to the OH that the others don't. She is not more physical than Lee. She is way more physical than Lee. Mitchem is 6’3, has the hops and hell of an arm swing. She has proven that she can be a good passer too. She has more international/pro experience than Lee as well. The Mitchem of the NCAAs is long gone.

She isn’t more physical, but maybe you don’t understand what “physical” means if you’re referencing passing and experience. I get that you’re a Hawaii fan, but even your comments about Taylor and professional opposites show that you’re just homering around here and shouldn’t be taken seriously.

It was sarcasm pointing out (1) the ridiculousness of the NC is the best player argument; and (2) should one consider awards and championships, NC isn't the only one that matters. you may have a beef with someone but it's not me If as a result of a non-attacking explanation you think I have a beef with you that's on you.

And this makes you someone to be taken seriously either? You vaguely stated your point and just blatantly put something out here without explaining. Invalid. You might as well tell yourself your name.

Stick to what you know.

Stick to what you know. and that’s what i exactly did as a mater of fact. Anyway, coming from a “homer” fan, it’s always great to see a former Wahine player in any NT. Maglio is trying out for the Canadian team as well. I hope Mitchem gets the starting position. Her “rags to riches” experience - from her JuCo years, injury years in Hawaii, then to be finally healthy again playing pro, makes a statement that that anything is possible and you don’t have to be playing for a P5 school to get acknowledged. Good luck to her!

Ok I love Mitchem but let’s not make she went to JUCO because she didn’t have the skills. Mitchem was very highly recruited out of high school, and was a top 20 recruit: she went to juco to Sort our academics which is great, but IMO, has nothing to do with national team stuff because that’s about your skills, not your academics.

I am well aware of the fact that Dave had recruited her from high school but due to academic concerns, he suggested her to go to JuCo first and then come back to Hawaii when she’s ready. I may have said it wrong, but I’m just saying that her JuCo credentials have contributed to her success to what she is now.

This entirely depends on how we're defining physical...
Lee is more explosive and dynamic. Mitchem is obviously taller, pretty quick for her height, and hits at a high angle. I would probably have to give who has more "heat" to Lee though.
I will say this - if we're comparing Mitchem to Hill, Mitchem hits harder and plays faster than Hill did in 2013, which is very promising.
