Right, and "penalize" (only two points) people who were attempting to play the game by saying, "screw aces and blocks." In most match ups aces aren't something you can game....sans having multiple prolific ace getters on your team, it's near impossible to draft a true competitive advantage in aces. Then why is it a category if it's "impossible" to strategize!?!?! It seems like most league players last season ignored it. I wish errors were included in some way

Jesus. I feel very unprepared. Also, this draft starts soon but there are some teams that still don't have their 2018 rosters up online, so there are a couple very talented freshmen whose positions aren't public, which definitely affects the draft. For example, it's completely possible that Jonni Parker is listed as an OH, a S, or an OPP. Hord/Gray could be listed at multiple positions too. This situation has been talked about in the admin thread. Cool. Soooooo...?

This situation has been talked about in the admin thread. Cool. Soooooo...? If you are choosing a freshman, and you are unsure of their position/it is unlisted, list their potential position on your draft pick. Every team is guaranteed 1 player of any position, so that can be that player if you are unsure. You just need to make sure you have 4 pin hitters (OH/RS), 3 middle blockers (MB), 2 setters, and 2 liberos. I imagine that most rosters will be updated anyday. You can also make changes after the draft if you for some reason end up with an extra position in one place and lacking the minimum in another. I think this will be a non-issue. Even if a player changes positions mid-season or plays both you are safe, because you drafted them based on the position listed on the roster. If a freshman is listed as multiple positions, they can be counted for either category.
Also , another relevant note that was discussed:
We are aware that many collegiate teams have not updated their rosters. This does not preclude you from drafting players you reasonably believe will be on the roster, however all fantasy teams players must be listed on their respective teams' collegiate website by the start of the first week otherwise that player is deemed ineligible.

I wish errors were included in some way It's not that it was ignored, it just that getting a TRUE competitive advantage is difficult to draft. Out of almost 100 matchups a fantasy team picked up more than 20 aces 5 times. When you are dealing with a variance of such low numbers, it's really hard to build a competitive advantage.

The best way to rack up aces is to play an overmatched opponent. Of course, that also leads to lower dig (ESPECIALLY), block, and kill numbers, so it's not useful, particularly with this league that focuses on counting stats over efficiency or per set.
As such, it may serve as a good hedge in this league.

I know it's a little before 10am EST, but in case neither of us were here to post that pick and hold up the draft, I didn't want to hold the suspense. Shout out azvb for BYU getting the #1 overall pick. n00b will be the next to pick, and the 18-hour time limit enforced will not begin until 10am EST, as that was the planned start date.. I follow after n00b and Fight On! has the 4th pick of the draft. Good luck to everyone!
