WCC Announces 2018 Volleyball All-Academic Team
Four student-athletes earned All-District 8 honors; three make third straight academic team
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference is pleased to announce the 2018 West Coast Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team. The group is headlined by four student-athletes earning 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 honors.
Three BYU student-athletes made the list: senior outside hitter Roni Jones-Perry was named to the Region 8 First Team while senior setter Lyndie Haddock-Eppich and junior libero Mary Lake were selected for the region’s second team. Pepperdine’s Hannah Frohling also earned a spot on the second team.
Three student-athletes make their third consecutive appearance on the squad: Saint Mary’s Lindsey Calvin and Lindsey Knudsen and Portland’s Lauren Naatz. It is the second straight first team nod for Jones-Perry, the 2018 WCC Player of the Year and Lake, the 2018 WCC Defensive Player of the Year. Loyola Marymount’s Emma Johnson, Pepperdine’s Frohling and Portland’s Cali Thompson also appear on the list for the second time.
This season, 23 nominated volleyball student-athletes posted a GPA of 3.50 or better while 11 recorded a mark of 3.75 or higher.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
