Milan have become a "staple" in Hawaii. I believe he is the HC of a very good club team in Hawaii. I don't know the name of the club but read about it in the paper somewhere.
Milan probably took the ALOHA SPIRIT and multiply it 10 times. Very charming and engaging guy. He even throw out shakas and hellos during time outs.
Hawaii is blessed to have him IMHO. Not only a great guy and a superb volleyball coach but is very intelligent. Heard he speaks 6 languages, studied engineering and authored books.
Dude is not a dumb jock by any stretch.

Joe and Gage are amazing. So excited for this season. Such a fun team to watch! Where did Colton cowell come from?! How did he make such a huge leap? Maybe the wahine can also do the same thing!

If there is a silver lining to losing Matautia and Rattray was that it afforded Cowell and Humler the opportunity to step out of their shadows and shine on the court. Hawaii fans knew that Cowell was sound defensively, we just weren't in tune with how good his all around game is.

However, given the work he put in the off season, even if Matautia and Rattray were still here, Cowell, probably would have leaped frog them as well. He did leap over Rossenmier.

Whenever anyone leaves due to graduation, transfer, or foregoing a final year of eligibility, it always opens up doors for the remaining players. In the women's game, I remember Brittany Hewitt leaving early, which opened the door for Jade Vorster. When Vorster left early, it opened the door for Kalei Adolpho. When Jane Croson left, this opened up opportunities for Nikki Taylor, Tai Manu-Olevao, and Ashley Kastl. When Megan Huff was put on the wbb team, that gave Shoji a scholarship which he used on Natasha Burns. This happens all the time.
I wasn't happy that Matautia and Rattray left, but I was also excited about the opportunities provided for the remaining players. I just didn't expect Colton Cowell to run with it.

With the work Colton put in over the off-season I'm sure he would have still been in this position. Colton has steadily improved every season he's been at UH. Colton's all-around game is superior to Austin's and honestly those that has watched Colton come up through the high school ranks should be well-aware of his all-around game. I know Maui doesn't produce much, but Colton is a special talent that has come out of Maui, probably one of the best if not the best player to come out of the MIL.

The Warriors are off to a fast start in 2019 and while we can't question the talent level of our A team, nevertheless there are questions:
1) Why do the men and women play with different volleyball brands... Women use Spaulding while the Men use McGregor? 2) Why don't we ever see coach Zarkovich hug or chest bump Charlie Wade? 3) Why are the nacho tortilla chips completely submerged in chili and cheese sauce to where you need a fork to dig them out, aren't they finger foods? 4) Why do the concession stands serve water that is carbonated while the sodas taste flat and syrupy? 5) If winning the "best seats in the house" means having a rogue volleyball knock your beer and nachos onto your lap, is it still considered the "best seats in the house"? 6) Why do more Hawaii fans know the lyrics to Hawaii Pono 'E than the Star Spangled Banner? 7) Why is it that we can spend millions on a new scoreboard, but can't spend $20 for a cheap pair of ping pong paddles to challenge calls made by the linesmen?

Star Advertiser mentioned Larry Tuileta and Kolby Kanetake are playing. In a perfect world, below are former bows of a recent vintage that I would love to see play in the alumni match. A few are playing professionally in Europe so no dice but it would be nice.
OH Siki Zarkovic OH Kupono Fey OH Scott Hartley OPP Jonas Umlauft OPP Brook Sedore MH Taylor Averill MH Hendrik Mol S Jennings Franciskovic S Joby Ramos L Tui Tuileta L Koby Kanetake

A poster from another thread mentioned a new Hawaii OH commit from Las Vegas Centennial High School - Nahmani Brown. Anyone heard of him?

A poster from another thread mentioned a new Hawaii OH commit from Las Vegas Centennial High School - Nahmani Brown. Anyone heard of him? Hmm...if we did pick him up, I think it would be a great pickup. According to MaxPrep, he is the #1 rate volleyball player in Las Vegas. They listed him as an OH, MB,OPP. Looks to be a very versatile kid. We can put him wherever we need help. He is only listed as 6-5 but looks long and probably can jump out of the gym.
