Why not go after people who are BLAMING Robyn on how this year's Wahine team is playing? I for one am not blaming Robyn, or her staff, for how the Wahine are player, or for the record they may end up with. I understand the situation, Robyn and her staff are in this year. One that they had no control of, but was handed. So I am just going to bite the bullet, and wait for next year to come. When Robyn can finally bring in recruits she wants to have play for the Wahine.

Need to remember, if the Wahine did not have Emily Maglio last year, what you are seeing right now, you would have seen last year, also.

Guess the shoe is on the other foot now. You, BIK, blaming Robyn for how the Wahine are playing, and me, giving Robyn the benefit of the doubt. Believing she is doing the best she can.

But she is the coach of this team. When the team fails the coaches are also responsible. I am a Robyn fan, I want her to succeed and believe she will but part of these two losses fall on her shoulders.

Rename this the Goldilocks thread. Some of you are too pessimistic, and some of you are too optimistic. On the bright side, Hawai'i hasn't fallen as low as Long Beach. lol However, this is not Robyn's first year. The lack of improvement by returning players and lack of any transfer help is a failure in recruiting, evaluation and/or training. Robyn is not a saleswoman. She's not going to b.s. top recruits into coming to Hawai'i. They're going to come because they believe she can make them good players and can win matches. Neither one of those scenarios is shaping up yet. If Robyn isn't comfortable with the schmoozy part of recruiting, I think she needs to consider adding a really good, personable coach primarily responsible for recruiting to her staff.

She has the same assistants from last year?

Wait till you see the recruits she will be bring in next year. You will be eating your words. She has 4 excellent recruits committed for next year. She has not stopped recruiting for next yet, also. She still has scholarships to offer. She also has 2 excellent recruits committed for 2020. Robyn knew there were not any outstanding players left for this year, and she just did not want to waste a scholarship on just a so, so player. She wanted to reserve the scholarship(s) for a 2019 recruit who could be a game changer.

Even if these recruits are better than anyone on the current squad, they aren't Top 10 or even Top 25 recruits.

If Robyn isn't comfortable with the schmoozy part of recruiting, I think she needs to consider adding a really good, personable coach primarily responsible for recruiting to her staff. I agree with this. I also agree that if the returning players aren't improving, that's partially on Robyn and her staff (and partially on the players). But I think you all are too optimistic about how quickly Robyn can bring in top recruits to Hawaii. Some of the top 2022 recruits have already committed and even more of the 2021 recruits have. The only way Robyn has a chance with them is if they become disillusioned with the programs that they've committed to (or the two or three that they've narrowed it down to for those not yet committed). She not going to be able to get those top recruits now bc the program isn't currently a top program. She'll need to improve each year and each year, recruit a better class for like three or four or five years out than she did the previous year. It's going to take time. But we can expect progress every year: each year's class should be better than the prior year's class, both for recruiting and for their volleyball skills once they come to the program.

There are several uncommitted top 100 Senior Aces for 2019.

There are some. And some of them are bc of coaching changes, which I mentioned (as well as other reasons for becoming disillusioned and de-committing) bc I do think Robyn or someone on her staff should try to recruit those players. I also guess it depends on your definition of top. Ppl are talking about a national championship, i.e., recruits comparable to Nebraska's, Florida's, Wisconsin's, Texas's, etc.
I'm saying she isn't going to have the same recruiting opportunities as those teams, at least not for a while, and it's not fair to expect similar results.
