What year is she? For a MB/OH, 5’11 is tad short. She stood out from the other players in a game vs Radford, but she didn't seem particularly talented. Who knows? She could develop after freshman year, but she's being overhyped at this point. She is NOT Kanani Danielson. Robyn & Co will scour beyond the islands to find the best talent possible, which is the right idea. Hawaii can only produce so much talent and there's so much more talent elsewhere who wouldn't mind going to paradise for school. I also think Angelica's Euro connections will bring in high caliber recruits, her hire might be Robyn's wisest early decision. Who said she was another Kanani Danielson? Only you bring up that comparison. And no she isnt being overhyped I said keep an eye out for her as she progresses through high school. I think people will be pleasantly surprised come Senior year how she turns out.

Hawaii needs to focus on girls they can get from Hawaii. I'll say it again, Robyn and Co. need to keep an eye on Toodie Sopi. This girl WANTS to play for Hawaii but she already getting looks from some schools on the mainland already. She will only get better but as a Frosh she has plenty room to grow and I'm excited to watch it happen. What year is she? For a MB/OH, 5’11 is tad short. If Robyn will be looking at her as an OH, she is not to short. Look at BYU's OH/OPP, 5'10, 6'0, and 5'10.

A shorter athlete can be successful, but Wagoner is also on the short side (and she doesn't appear to be a super leaper). Sometimes there is no substitute for height. If Burns weren't 6' 5", she would never have been on the floor.

Volleyball is not all about size and leaping ability. Riley Wagoner may not be over 6ft but if she can pass the ball and play back row at a high level, she will be as valuable as anyone on the team. The ability to pass the ball allows the setter to be in system and have options. I will bet you my house that Robyn will keep Riley in the match if she can pass and play D but only hit .200. Never underestimate the value of having someone who can pass and allows you to run your offense.
Also being short does not mean you cannot find holes in the block or learn to tool a block. Having the ability to jump just gives you more chances to do more things but it does not mean the players with better hops will always be better than the one without hops.
I will take a player with high VB IQ and great fundamentals than one who jumps over the net but cannot do much of anything other than whack the ball hard.
She definitely looks like somebody than can help us next season. Seems to have solid ball control and decent power on hit attacks.

It is also true, if Burns were 6'1, or 6'2, she would never have been on the floor. For that matter, she may have never been on the Wahine roster. When it comes to Wagoner, and her leaping ability, yes, she does not appear to be super leaper. But neither was Iosia, and we all saw what she was capable of doing when playing OPP. What Iosia had was a super high volleyball IQ, and that is what Wagoner seems to have, also. A Super High Volleyball IQ can overcome a supposedly lack of height.

A lot of short OH/OPP players have proven this out.

If both Wagoner, and Hellvig, are able to play the back row with any kind of consistency it would help Robyn, and Wahine tremendously with the graduation of Akiu. Via the videos on Wagoner, it does seem she will be able to play the backrow. As for Hellvig, her Beach volleyball background should help her play the back row also.

Wagoner seems to be a good all-around player that can certainly make a contribution. My point in mentioning her was not to suggest that she wasn't a good player, but rather, that recruiting players with some additional height is probably more advantageous than having all your hitters under-sized.
Iosia did a great job hitting this year, but the fact is, no matter how high her volleyball IQ might be, if other teams started to focus more on her, they could slow her down considerably.

Also keep in mind that despite her "lack of hops", Wagoner is also an All State basketball player in Ohio. That means she is every athletic and have good feet. She will be able to do many things to help this team and I am looking forward to seeing her in a Wahine uniform.

I totally agree, a player with height is always more advantageous, then having undersized hitters. One thing I would like to mention, Wagoner does not seem to have super hops, but what I have seen of her, she does seem to have decent hops. I believe once in the Wahine program, with weight training, she will be able to increase her leaping ability a few inches.

Watching her videos, what really was apparent to me, is that she has very quick muscle reflex. Something a volleyball player needs to become very good.

I agree height is not everything but it’s not all about offense and backrow defense. Why not have a solid hitter with leaping ability, great passing skills, and huge presence at the net?
