Do not forget, we do have Wagoner, who is from Illinois, Michigan's next door neighbor. Shes from ohio.... True...true...HOWEVER...Wagoner said that she always wanted to play for Hawaii so that is a different story. I am also talking about TRANSFERS and not freshmen. We do have some success with freshman.....Therese Crawford, Jamie Houston, Jessica Keefe, etc...but transfers are another story. I don't remember the last time we got a transfer from that part of the country. I hope Chandlar do consider coming here but like I said...I rather have Ava Bell.

Right? LOL. The evolution of Hawaii fandom over the years leaves a lot to be missed...

Ali Longo transfer from Penn State would be the closest I guess. Pennsylvania is the neighbor to east of Ohio. As for true freshman, not too sure. Its been awhile.

She was always injured and knee problems. She was a walking in out patient.

Yes, she went to Penn State.

Maybe Westerberg did not impress some on that video but you have got to admit that she has potential. She looks like a stud from these club highlights: So NCSAsports.com lists her approach jump at 10'0" and her block jump at 9'7". Considering she is 6'3", that might explain why the video footage isn't impressing some people as much as a more explosive player would.

That is not impressive at all, especially if she is playing the Middle. Now thinking her best position would be at OPP.

Does having a great vertical all that important being a MB? Most of their hits go through or go past the blocks and not over the block. We have had girls that were not leapers but we’re still very solid.
For an OH, having a good vertical might be more important because you always facing double blocks and you can used your hops to go over a shorter blocker but in the middle....everything is quick. It’s not like you can jump, survey the court and then hit the ball.
That 10’ touch number might have been from earlier in her career. She looks like she can go up and pound the ball in the video I posted. If you look at her attempted block at the 13 seconds mark, she looks to have her entire shoulder up to the top of the tape. She can jump. Maybe not at the elite level but she can jump.

Vertical can be improved once in the college weight training program. By how much will only depend on how dedicated the player is to improving vertical.

Westerberg’s 18 finals reminds me of what happened when we tried to make Maja Gustin swing on the outside that 2001 season....also I may be the only one who thinks this, but why not try Igiede on the right ... the girl already touches 10’5
