I gotta vent, I know it will be so so this season, but I think UH will not be better than last year. The ladder should go up, not down. What's going on with you and your quote function issues. You got it right in the prior post and then you got it wrong here. WTF? It's driving me up the wall!

Wasn't there some talk of a European hitter, Sofia Cannonskova? Haha. Good job with the fake name! There is a European recruit, along with Riley Wagoner and Braelyn Akana next year, then Kate Lang and Amber Igiede come in 2020. Just trying to get a handle on who is coming on board in the near future. 2019: Riley Wagoner - OH Braelyn Akana - OH/MB Amber Igiede - MB European Player - OH 2020: Kate Lang - S Georgia Via - Lib Anyone I'm missing?

Why is UH always recruiting these junk to so so okay players. We need the blue chipper studs! Probably gonna get backlash from saying this but it’s true. We need big, physical 6’2” + at the pins on both sides and 6’4” plus trees in the middle. C’mon where are they? We need girls that can raise arms and touch coconuts on the trees.

History just loves to repeat itself with Hawaii fans. You guys ripped your team and coach apart after the Marquette match last season and look how it all turned out in the end. I mean damn... Ok, Marquette was way better than everyone thought. But last season was also the worst (or 2nd worst) season in program history, depending on how you look at it. So it's not like the doomsday scenarios were unfounded.

The team was/is what it was/is and really all you can look for is a more complete cast in the future... which it looks like RAMS has got a good handle on, right?

These girls are going to power conference teams. There are that more quality programs to choose from! Also, Hawaii is in the middle of the ocean - far from friends and family. It will take a real special athlete to come and want to play here. That's why it's so important to be able to develop players ... esp at a mid major. Thats why we also have these "project" players. That, or go international - and hope your player is eligible. I feel (I know it will sound strange) being in the old WAC helped - gave us access to other parts of the country... so a little more easier to recruit ppl like Houston (Alabama), Hittle (Colorado), Hewitt (Idaho) ... maybe even like a Willoughby (Louisiana). Thats also why now you see many California girls - because our conference is all California teams. On a sidenote, I do prefer Hawaii in the Big West. But just showing how a more geographic conference could give you better access.

UH needs real volleyball players that can be on the court for 6 rotations. And know how to handle the ball in front and back row. Serve and receive is the basis of a good team. If you have a good setter, it won't mean anything, if she has to run all over the court to set the balls.

With 15 available subs, I'd rather have physical girls in the front and they get subbed in the back. Might need your setter and libero to be super solid and maybe one of your outsides.

As I recall, didn't Shoji change his recruiting priorities some years ago, where in the past he used to recruit players mostly based on skill, then decided to go after taller, more athletic players and teach them to be skilled volleyball players? Something about "you can teach skills but you can't teach height."

I agree, this is too early to be on here. Maybe we are doing too much of hypong recruits. Then we get disappointed if they dont live up to it.
