Hawaii wasn't able to come out with the victory but they gave us a fun, excited, and entertaining match. The positives- Wow Tita Akiu is an AA Caliber defender! She keeps impressing match after match. Girl was digging some bombs. It seems like she was touching almost everything Oregon sent over. I know she frustrated Ulmer Stone, and LVW. Hawaii got more production out of Granato and Gaskin. Their hitting percentage wasn't great but they racked up kills. It was good to see Gaskin hitting with more confidence and more range. Burns and Liva was active again in the middle. Liva gets lost tracking hitters sometimes but she is good offensively. Burns is a good blocker and touches a lot of balls. She doesn't have the kaboom type of kills that Liva can get but she's pretty effective. Iosia had a solid all around game as usual. Castillo really struggled again. It's time to let Castaneda play. Hawai'i could have won if they got even a little more production out of the second OH position. She only had 6 kills through 5 sets, not good enough. Sad to see Hawaii slow down Stone and LVW and still lose. Borup saved the Ducks. Anyway, Hawaii will win the Big West if they keep up their play on defense and get more production out of the 2nd OH position. Castaneda can be huge for the Bows moving forward. First time I watchdr her take swings in warm ups. She has hops and and a live arm. All the dumbasses touting Cal Poly because they swept an overrated UCLA team need to check themselves. Hawaii hung with Oregon, a much better team than UCLA. Hawaii "hung" with Oregon? Oregon won both matches, 6 of 8 sets, and outscored Hawaii 185-158.

I would never count out a team coached by Robyn, but Cal Poly still looks like the team to beat in the Big West.

Aside from maybe 2 sets, Hawai’i was right there with Oregon, even with anemic production out of some of its players. Hilarious that you wasted your time counting points to try and convince those of us who watched both matches that it wasn’t close as we are claiming it was.

For those Wahine fans that are still in Las Vegas, the Top 2 Hawaii High School Girl's Volleyball Teams, Kamehameha and Iolani, are in Las Vegas, playing in the Durango Fall Classic. If your luck is not doing so good, in the casino, go check out these 2 teams play, in the Durango Fall Classic.

It was an ugly second set for Hawaii and, mostly bc of that, the points were 110-95 Oregon. If you take out the second set, it was 85-85. I know that's cherry picking (and, if you take out the bad matches/sets, most teams look very good) but, in this case, since the context of the claim was based on Hawaii playing defense like they did for most of the second match (plus getting more production from OH2), I think it's fair.

The setter for Oregon could be their weak spot. The Hawaii refs let her get away with a lot of double contacts, which she will not be able to do once Oregon gets into Conference play. Once the PAC12 refs start calling her for double contacts it will effect her setting. She will become tentative in her sets. Disrupt the timing of her sets. Leading to bad sets. Her sets had so much spin on them. How she is a D1 setter is beyond me.

I wonder why Live wasn't blocking Oregon's back row attacks. Was it the coaching staffs' game plan not too?

I loved the fact that they COMPETED, excellent effort by the Wahine. They showed the fire that had been missing. I loved hearing Robyn talk positively about the team. It is obvious she pours her heart and soul into this team and players. And it seems that the players love her back, even with her tough love attitude.

Are you trying to make kokyu cry? She was the #8 senior ace but it seems like she might be redshirting this season. I have no confidence in Ulmer, Moore would've started Robinson from the beginning. Hell even c4 would've too. Ulmer seems to know what he's doing. One thing I like is that this team seems mentally tough. They don't just up and fold like they did with most of Moore's teams. Further, the recruiting he's done leaves him loaded for seasons to come, and the players like him as a coach and didnt rebel like they did with Moore. Thus at this point, whether we like it or not, redshirting Robinson is a coaches decision, and should pay off starting next season. But I also feel that he'll definitely use her this season if Raskie struggles. But considering our losses are only to top 5 teams and with a win against #1, that's not terrible. Granted, I think Stanford is the best team in the country. Sorry BYU, just my opinion.
