Watching Aiea vs Waianae. Aiea's always got some big girls that can pound but Waianae's got some real heavy hitters too. Aiea was lacking this year. Two of their big hitters graduated last year.

Anyone know anything about the junior OH on Waianae, Heipua Tautua'a? Recruiting wise? Watching the Aiea game, she seems very explosive. I know Waianae doesn't get much exposure but she looks like a heavy hitter and I saw she plays for Kevin's team ? (SAS).

Robyn needs to keep an eye on Alizaysha Sofi. a 5-11 FR OH from Kapolei. She could be the next outstanding Outside Hitter to come out of Hawaii. Plays more like she is 6-0, or 6-1, cause she has very long arms. Since she is a Freshman, she may likely grow another inch, or two. Has a cannon for an arm. Reminds me a little of that Anae girl who played for Utah, last year. Definitely does not play like a Freshman.

Kevin Wong said the next great hitter from Hawaii is Braelyn Akana. Hawaii already has her commitment, so...done deal.

I was very happy to hear about Akana deciding to stay home and play for UH, following in her mom's footsteps. Also the coaching staff should really zone in on the local talents we have now. Some are very raw with potential, and some are just very poised at a very young age.

There are a few in the Freshman, and Sophomore, high school classes that show a lot of potential, that Robyn should keep an eye on. One thing you get from the local talent is a very high volleyball I.Q. player. Since they play the sport almost year round.

Lots of local talent and young talent at that !! From watching OIA games on demand to tonight's semis, there's a lot of young players that show lots of potential! Some underclassmen that stood out to me thus far ... Elena Oglivie (Jr./IOL) - Not sure if she committed somewhere already? Falanika Danielson (Jr./MIL) Toodie Sopi (Fr./KAP) Heipua Tautua'a (Jr./WNE) Tufono (Fr./IOL) Aysia Miller (Jr./MIL) Tayli Ikenaga (So./MOA) Maui Robins (Fr./KSK)

Good setting, good hitting, good digging and passing, good serving. 4-set line: 8-K; 3-BA; 3-SA; 38-Ast; 10-D. And, she was clutch at the end of sets. She keeps developing and performing like last night, she's headed to DIV-I.
F. Danielson (5'6" OH) has high vbIQ, hit hard and smart from all over the court, and played good D. She led Mililani with 19 kills, and had 14 digs.

Wagoner committed to UH around this time last year. I’m excited to see if RAMS can pull in some top 2020 recruits in the next couple months. Although, I feel like her best bet is transfers and Europeans. RAMS has at least 3 scholarships left for 2020

Volleyball is the one sport in Hawaii where we just don't have enough scholarships to offer all the local talents we produce. That's why a lot of the girls get away. (But also why we have better than average walk on DS's than most programs) If there happens to be a strong local class--the same time we don't have a lot of scholarships to give...

NOT suggesting-implying that UH should Not go after awesome, recruitable homegrown players; and yet in watching how Robyn is establishing 'pipelines' into other areas-nations: why not BOTH?

NOT suggesting-implying that UH should Not go after awesome recruitable homegrown players; and yet, in watching how Robyn is establishing 'pipelines' into other areas-nations: why not BOTH? It's a crap shoot. In the case of Sarah Mason and Alicia Arnott both Hawai'i all-state standouts, both were on our radar. Arnott got the Scholie, Mason got a full ride to Oregon. However, Mason was able to finish her collegiate career here, becoming an all-WAC player. But, could have would have. Mason said from the get-go, that she wanted to come to UH. More players than scholie's are tricky, who to offer, who to keep in contact in case of an opening... who will feel dejected, who will pan out, who will thrive, who will wilt... Hawai'i doesn't have the luxury to draw the very tippy top of the list. Maybe someday.
