With Wagoner coming, I hope she encourages her Libero friend Dana Axner to transfer. Axner had 39 digs and 0 receiving errors in a 5 set loss to West Virginia

I know we've got great recruits coming in and I'm very excited. Just cause I'm not knowledgeable about local players, are there any current local players around the islands from Hawaii besides the Akanas you would bring in ??
Any other local talents around?

Jus curious what everyone's thought is about Savanah Kahakai's sister.
She currently I believe is a senior at Farrington, is she someone worth looking into for libero? I haven't seen her play for couple years what is everyone's thoughts?

I haven't seen her play for couple years what is everyone's thoughts? I watched a little of her game for the the Govs last year. The Govs had a nice season this year, but in the OIA tournament this week they got swept by Kapolei. Now the Govs will play for 5th overall in the losers bracket. My assessment is she has been a key player for the Govs, plays OH. Not very tall, i think under 5'8". Has athleticism but nothing that leaps out at me and screams NCAA Div-I. Good vbIQ. Leads her team in kills and digs, but modest numbers. As of last week, she's not top 20 in any stat category in the OIA+ILH stat leaders board. My assessment a year ago was Div-II or maybe a Div-I DS walk-on.

Unfortunately after about five years of D1 prospects pumping out of the islands the prep ranks are a little bare for the Div I level. There are a few standouts, but not as much as previous classes that sent a couple dozen prospects to D1.
Punahou used to be loaded with D1 talent and even they are struggling this year. Ironically, some of the OIA schools have the more intriguing prospects but not as much exposure to club ball as some of the ILH ones.

Sariyah Kahakai could be good for UH ... but it would most likely be as a walk on. She passes well, digs well and moves well. Saw her also play in a women's tournament (and she was on a team with her older sister, Olevao, Adolpho) and they made her play as a libero. She could be a nice asset -- good team player who communicates well. Another good prospect for libero could be Moanalua's sophomore OH Ikenaga who also played club for Robyn this past season -- excellent ball handler! Farrington did lose to Kapolei. Now, Kapolei has an OH who is a treat to watch. May be a little undersized for D1, but what a cannon of an arm! UH should definitely keep their eyes on her! But if you are looking for young guns -- Kahuku has some as well. In fact, Kahuku vs. Kapolei will be coming up soon as an OIA semifinal-- so if you want to see some young OIA talent, check that game out on OC16. There are a few prospects out there ... so it will be interesting to see how they all develop! I thought Punahou actually has one of the most stacked teams in the state (and height wise no one matches them) ... but they are just underperforming! Kamehameha is a machine. I would think that Punahou could maybe defeat Iolani, but Iolani has also had their number in the ILH season. As for OIA schools, there are many good players who play club -- but the roster is usually the best from that community (except maybe if you're Moanalua ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ) Now the ILH could just really have their pickings on anyone they want.

I agree! Was just wondering cause I heard the OIA teams had some interesting girls to watch for. Top Teams seem to be Mililani, Kahuku, Moanalua, Kapolei, Waianae and Farrington. Very interested to keep eyes out!

Kanani Danielson's sister plays for Mililani. Wonder if she is on UH's radar. Not sure how good she actually is but I think she is only a sophomore

They limited the amount of televised games but maybe they'll show it.

Our middles are keeping us in this match. Granato is not Granato tonight or even lastnite. Castillo, has not at all had a decent match this season.

Watching Aiea vs Waianae. Aiea's always got some big girls that can pound but Waianae's got some real heavy hitters too.

Regarding Hawaii prep vb - OIA. I think they're showing both semis on Monday. Mililani vs Moanalua and Kapolei vs Kahuku. Finals on Wed also on OC16. Hopefully they'll also have good coverage for states.
