Did Logan Tom, Misty May, Kerrie Walsh, or Kim Willoughby even win POY their respective freshman years? Nope. They won POY during the later part of their careers, but never in their freshman year. During her freshman year, Tom had to compete with Walsh for that honor.

When was the last time a freshman won POY on either national level or in any of the more prominent conferences? Did Logan Tom, Misty May, Kerrie Walsh, or Kim Willoughby even win POY their respective freshman years? Walsh and Tom were 1st team AA their freshman years. But like roy said, when Tom was a freshman, Walsh was a senior. Walsh was eventually co-POY that year. Walsh, like Tom, had a blockbuster rookie season. Even went on to be MVP on Stanford's way to the championship title. So some freshmen in the past may have been in the running for POY, but I don't think we'll be seeing a Div I player going home with both FOY and POY trophies.

Topic is POY Pavan is FOY Jerritt is Coach of the Year Munsch and Saleaumua co-Defensive Players of the Year I don't think any of these are surprises. What I found surprising was that Tracy Stalls was not named to the All-Conference/Honorable Mention team.

Obviously the conference feels we don't have the horses to compete with Texas, after all, we just barely pounded them into submission.

When will pac10 put out there first team and awards? Most likely Monday. But with the evident disarray, who knows for sure?

What difference does it really make? POY will be Ogonna - FOY will be Morrison None of it makes a lot of sense to me .....The FOY/POY shoukld be the person, not based on statistics, but the one person the team cannot function without in order for the team to be successful. Ogonna may be fitting of that award but not too sure about Morrison....... she great but Washington would survive without her........

Walsh, like Tom, had a blockbuster rookie season. Even went on to be MVP on Stanford's way to the championship title. Not sure if you meant those statements to be combined as I'm reading them but Stanford didn't win the national championship in Logan Tom's freshman year.

Obviously...since one match really defines a season. They lost the conference by 4 matches, they get 5 and the team that took two of those matches, didn't lose to any of those teams they did, #1 team in country, gets 3??? I would think that would show the Huskers were more consistently good than just one match. However, its done, I think its really lame but I'm not "going Hawaii" (this replaces the old term of "going Postal") over the deal.

The 'like Tom' comparison was my attempt for coherence. So much for that effort.
