Minnesota is the only one of the top 4 seeds to get a free pass to Long Beach. This is the second year in a row they got an unbelievable draw. I would rather have the #3 and #4 draws than the #1 or # 2. This aint right.

Would you rather face USC in the round of 16, like Nebraska will have to? Lot of teams have much tougher draws than Penn State.

I'm not thrilled about the potential Nebraska-USC matchup. What worries me is experience at that point. Granted I think as up and down as USC has been playing they might not make that match at all but if they do I think it'll be a battle. IF Kansas State shows up to play they could give USC a battle.

The key to that match will be if Sarah Florian plays a great match. She's the X-factor, I think. She needs to pass well to get the middles involved and she needs to hit well to keep the defenses honest. If she plays well, then I think the team could have a shot at upsetting Nebraska.

Sure seems like it this season. Their sub regional is worse than Penn State's and Penn State's is a joke.

How about this: why don't the three teams pool their players and put their best lineup against Minnesota? They might hit over .100 that way. Is this the easiest road to the Sweet 16 a team has ever had? It looks like the opponent list at a Penn State nonconference tournament. The Gophers also have winnable matchups in the regional, although they are seeded for another bout with Superwoman in the final. It is too bad for them that they don't host next weekend, but I think they will take it.

Let's face it. This is bracket that Penn State usually gets. Remember last year?? So Russ Rose must have stepped down from the committee and Mike Hebert was asked to join. ;D

This whole thing was a No Win situation for the Gophers. You all would have complained no matter what.
But I have to say it's a real disservice to OSU to say Minnesota is a lock for the final 4. Not to mention UCSB or Georgia Tech.

Penn State hosted those matches.

I would say the same thing for Penn State. It seems like everyone on this board gives this team no credit. Deserving? It's yet to be seen, but they did win the Big Ten in a year where no one gave them a chance.

That's a nice little myth being created by Russ et al. I don't know anyone who DIDN'T think PSU would be in the running. They are always in the running.
Heck, most people on this board thought it was Minnesota that would be an also-ran after losing Busse.
