Did anyone else see that Elena Hoecke is on the watchlist for AVCA HS Player of the Year? First year they are doing it. Congrats to her for being among those listed! Four finalists will go to the AVCA convention in December. http://instagram.com/p/DAYZpgRy8JG

I wondered about that too. No Florida players at all. I don't have a good idea of the competition level of Florida HS volleyball. Maybe they're all beating up on each other and no one's stats are standing out. Hoecke's stats might be standing out as a middle if she's getting the lion's share of sets as the best player on her team. Centennial isn't the powerhouse that Champlin Park is where Gilk plays with a more spread out offense. Also random, but I love that Champlin Park has a lefty middle. That's fun.

Is it better than the web version? I much prefer the mobile website. I have tried Tapatalk a few times but never stick with it.

Florida HS VB is very strong, but very concentrated in specific pockets of the state. While Kinney is an obvious standout on her team, the surrounding pieces to make noise on a national level are not there. That is the case for many top tier recruits around the nation.

Club is just around the corner. We've talked a ton about the setters, but what other positions do you think Minne will take in 2027? A lot of chatter about how full the pin position will be coming up, but have to assume they are looking at a big arm in that class? And a libero? Just wondering what people are "hearing."

When this thread got brought up in the main thread, I decided to check on what the commits have been up to. Jordan Taylor set a school record for kills in a match this week. 39! 🤯 A few weeks ago she shared a clip of her hitting out of the back row. I wonder if her high school is creatively using her as a six rotation middle like Georgia does with Sophie Fischer or if she gets some transition swings after serving. 39 kills from a middle is wowowowow even at the high school level where box scores and stat lines can be really lopsided. I hope Stella is ready to set a middle with a looooong reach! http://instagram.com/p/DBg0kyxJzoL

Time is flying. How is it already sections with the Minnesota state tournament around the corner?
Madi Kraft ('26 L/DS)/Eagan: #1 Section 3AAAA —def. #8 Two Rivers (-12, -5, -11) on Tuesday —plays #4 Rosemount on Saturday
Carly Gilk ('25 Opp)/Champlin Park: #1 Section 5AAAA —def. #8 Park Center 3-0 on Tuesday —plays #4 Osseo tonight
Elena Hoecke ('26 MB)/Centennial: #1 Section 7AAAA —plays #8 Coon Rapids tonight
Mckenna Garr ('25 L/DS)/Rush City: #1-South Section 7AA —def. #8-S Hincklay-Finlayson 3-0 Wednesday night —plays #4-S Barnum tomorrow night
Kelly Kinney ('25 OH)/King's Academy: #4 seed in Florida Class 3A —won 5th straight district championship last Thursday 3-2 —won regional quarterfinal 3-1 on Tuesday —plays the #1 seed on Saturday for a chance to play in the regional final
Jordan Taylor ('25 MB)/Langham Creek —looks like they are still finishing up conference play and have a record of 20-21. Wow they play a lot of matches in TX hs vball. I'm assuming they're allowed to play more weekend tournaments and best-of-3 matches than MSHSL allows
Makenna Crosson ('26 OH)/Archbishop Mitty —one more match before California Sections start. 23-5 this season
GO FUTURE GOPHS!

KK is out recruiting today - wonder if they are looking at another addition to the ‘26 class or watching some ‘27s?

Another update on 2025 and 2026 Gopher commit h.s. seasons. Carly Gilk: 1-seed Champlin Park won the Section 5AAAA final last night in a reverse sweep over 2-seed Maple Grove (Skylar Gray's alma mater) and advances to the state tournament -(17-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 15-13) -I have only watched the 5th set so far. MG went from down 8-11 to up 13-12. Lefty Gilk tied it up swinging on the left in Ro1. She can hit from anywhere. Plays middle back defense on this team. Had the block on match point. Elena Hoecke: 1-seed Centennial plays 2-seed Anoka in the 7AAAA final tonight -defeated Taylor Morgan's alma mater #5 Blaine on Tuesday 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 25-22) -Elena led the match with 16 kills and is basically an OH/MB for her team Mckenna Garr: 1S-seed Rush City plays 2S-seed Esko on Saturday in the 7AA final -she plays OH for her h.s. team -they have dropped one set in their three matches leading to the section final Makenna Crosson: 1-seed Archbishop Mitty plays 8-seed Burlingame in Central Coast Sections on Saturday -team finished West Catholic conference play tied for 1st with an 11-1 record Jordan Taylor-I think Texas h.s. volleyball just never ends -team is 21-22 and still has two more regular season matches -Jordan leads the team with 5.5 kills per set, hitting .335 with 1 block per set if max preps is accurate Madi Kraft: 1-seed Eagan lost the Section 3AAAA final last night to 2-seed East Ridge in 5 sets -(22-25, 25-19, 25-27, 26-24, 5-15) -Eagan finished their season 20-6 Kelly Kinney: 4-seed King's Academy lost the regional semifinal to 1-seed Berkeley Prep on Sunday -(23-25, 25-27, 23-25) wow close sweep to a team that has since advanced to the state semifinals -if the internet is right, King's Academy finished 18-6 on the season http://instagram.com/p/DBo5bNiRSZk

Kacie Schulte on Maple Grove definitely looks like a player to keep an eye on.
