Congrats to Carly and Mckenna on being named finalists for 2024 Ms. Baden Volleyball! Carly and Champlin Park will be representing Section 5AAAA at the state tournament and Mckenna and Rush City will be representing Section 7AA after today's win.

Elena Hoecke and Centennial's season ended yesterday in the 7AAAA section final against Anoka. Heartbreaker 13-15 fifth set! Elena had 19 kills (.317), 5 blocks, and 11 digs.

I have watched some of the Champlin Park match I posted the other day. Gilk had a rough start to the match with errors and being blocked. I lost count of how many times the Maple Grove student section started an "over-rated" cheer. She was able to turn it around though! I love all the creative ways high school coaches mess with line-ups to get their best players on the floor. Gilk is actually lined up 2 spots after their setter as if she is a middle, swings on the left while in the front row with the setter then switches to right when setter is back row. And the player that is lined up as if she were the other middle does play middle in the front row (as a lefty!) plus all three back row rotations in either middle or right back. The other attackers just kind of go where Gilk and the lefty middle aren't.

Schulte is really good and fun to watch for Maple Grove. They have a freshman middle that is physical and jumps well too.

Carly Gilk: 1-seed Champlin Park won the Section 5AAAA final last night in a reverse sweep over 2-seed Maple Grove (Skylar Gray's alma mater) and advances to the state tournament
-(17-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 15-13)
-I have only watched the 5th set so far. MG went from down 8-11 to up 13-12. Lefty Gilk tied it up swinging on the left in Ro1. She can hit from anywhere. Plays middle back defense on this team. Had the block on match point.

-defeated Taylor Morgan's alma mater #5 Blaine on Tuesday 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 25-22)
-Elena led the match with 16 kills and is basically an OH/MB for her team


Mckenna Garr: 1S-seed Rush City plays 2S-seed Esko on Saturday in the 7AA final
-she plays OH for her h.s. team
-they have dropped one set in their three matches leading to the section final

Makenna Crosson: 1-seed Archbishop Mitty plays 8-seed Burlingame in Central Coast Sections on Saturday
-team finished West Catholic conference play tied for 1st with an 11-1 record

Jordan Taylor
-I think Texas h.s. volleyball just never ends
-team is 21-22 and still has two more regular season matches
-Jordan leads the team with 5.5 kills per set, hitting .335 with 1 block per set if max preps is accurate

Madi Kraft: 1-seed Eagan lost the Section 3AAAA final last night to 2-seed East Ridge in 5 sets
-(22-25, 25-19, 25-27, 26-24, 5-15)
-Eagan finished their season 20-6

Kelly Kinney: 4-seed King's Academy lost the regional semifinal to 1-seed Berkeley Prep on Sunday
-(23-25, 25-27, 23-25) wow close sweep to a team that has since advanced to the state semifinals
-if the internet is right, King's Academy finished 18-6 on the season

Can someone clarify for me: when is “signing day”? I haven’t kept up with all of these changes and doing away with NLIs and don’t feel like reading through a bunch of threads lol

Streams are listed on the MSHSL website, volleyball page. I believe there’s a daily pass and weekend pass for viewing, 2 courts to choose from.

Cora Bicknese (2027 L/DS who has attended Gopher camps and been coached by Mel) and Mckenna Garr facing off in the first round of the Class AA tournament on Thursday afternoon. Garr plays OH for her team this year, and I think someone said Bicknese hits for her h.s. team too?
